McKenzie Remains Pleased With Dennis Allen

Sep 19, 2014 5:11 PM

Oakland Raiders' general manager Reggie McKenzie sat down Friday with seven local writers to discuss the season.

The Raiders have a 3-8 record this season.

McKenzie said he is ”still pleased with Dennis Allen. … I’m sure he has some rookie mistakes but overall I’m happy with Dennis.”

McKenzie wouldn't go into specifics on who will be back next season and that it will be determined by season-long evaluations.

One issue the Raiders have struggled with is their depth, which McKenzie was expecting.

“I wish I had a whole lot of depth to rotate and figure out who can do it better, but we’re limited,” said McKenzie.

Nov 27, 2014 10:07 AM

The Oakland Raiders have suspended Rolando McClain two games for conduct detrimental to the team.

McClain was at practice early Wednesday and then left and didn’t participate due to a “team-related issue,” Allen said.

McClain was the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

McClain will lose $121,000 of his $970,000 base salary.

Raiders Seeing Improvement In Terelle Pryor

Jun 9, 2014 11:49 AM

Terrelle Pryor has only been on the field once during his two seasons with the Oakland Raiders.

But with the Raiders struggling, it may be time to evaluate Pryor.

"He's working to get better and he's working to improve," Dennis Allen said. "I've seen improvement in Terrelle. He's gotten better as a quarterback. He's continued to work. I don't think any of us feel like he's the finished product, including himself. But he has worked to improve."

Davis Seeing Regression In Raiders' Play

Aug 6, 2014 1:34 PM

Oakland Raiders' owner Mark Davis spoke to the media shortly after his team's 38-17 loss on Sunday to the Saints.

The Raiders have lost three straight games.

Davis was asked what his goals were heading into the season.

“Finding a direction for the franchise, moving forward and seeing progress week to week would have been a happier time right now," said Davis. "But that’s still possible.”

Davis was also asked if general manager Reggie McKenzie and head coach Dennis Allen would get a pass on the season.

“Like I say, I’m patient. I’m patient. But I want to see progress. I don’t want to see regression. Nobody does. And that’s why I’m unhappy today. But as far as a pass, I wouldn’t call it a pass. They’ve got contracts; they’re going to be here.”

Davis also said that he wanted to "apologize" to the fans.

Raiders Won't Make 'Wholesale' Changes Despite Defensive Struggles

Jul 2, 2014 12:02 AM

The Oakland Raiders have struggled badly on defense over the past few weeks.

“I’m not going to stand up here and say we’re making wholesale changes,” Dennis Allen said. “We’re going to look at every aspect of what we do, offensively, defensively and the kicking game, and if we feel changes need to be made, we’ll make those changes.”

The Ravens exploited the Raiders' pass defense on Sunday, a week after the Buccaneers rushed for 278 yards and four touchdowns.

“It wasn’t like (the Ravens) ran the ball down our throats,” defensive tackle Tommy Kelly said. “If a guy is wide open, running down the middle of the field, most times that’s not a physical problem. It just means somebody’s not covering him.”

McFadden, Goodson, Seymour Out For Raiders

Jul 9, 2014 7:27 AM

Darren McFadden, Mike Goodson and Richard Seymour will all be out for the Oakland Raiders on Saturday against the Ravens.

McFadden and Goodson have high-ankle sprains, and Seymour is battling knee and hamstring issues.

"You don't ever know exactly how someone is going to respond to an injury," Dennis Allen said in explaining why he waited so long to decide. "Obviously, none of them made enough progress this week that they were able to be up."

The Raiders will use Taiwan Jones and Marcel Reece at running back.

"I'm very aware that I'm not Darren McFadden," Jones said. "I just try to play my game. The coaches, they do a good job of putting me in positions and giving me plays for what I can bring to the table."

Jones rushed 16 times for 73 yards (4.6 average) last season.
