MetLife Stadium Replacing Field In 2023, But Not To Grass

Nov 18, 2022 8:11 AM

MetLife Stadium is in the process of reviewing proposals to replace the current FieldTurf that has come under fire in recent years.

The stadium is the home of the New York Giants and Jets.

Metlife, which currently is using a version of FieldTurf, is contemplating new synthetic surfaces, not the natural grass that players have publicly called for in recent weeks.

"We evaluate our field each season and historically have replaced our playing surface every 3-4 years. We have made the decision to replace the field in 2023 and are currently reviewing proposals from multiple vendors for a new synthetic surface," MetLife Stadium said in a statement.

Giants Open To Extending Saquon Barkley, Daniel Jones

Nov 2, 2022 9:08 AM

Joe Schoen says the New York Giants are open to extending the contracts of Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones.

The Giants are 6-2 entering their Week 9 bye.

Both Barkley and Jones are in the final years of their rookie contracts, heading toward free agency in 2023.

"We'll have those meetings this week," Schoen said. "We'll talk about it if we want to, we've got to get through the trade deadline today and those conversations, then we'll kind of circle up with some strategy meetings as we move forward on contract extensions and if we may or may not do anybody. If I did, this would be the week. I would want to entertain it during the bye week and then I probably won't do anything after that. I don't want anything to be a distraction to the players or organization. So, if we do something it would be probably before Monday with any of our guys, I'm not saying him, but when we have those conversations."

GM: Giants Would Be Open To Talking With OBJ

Nov 2, 2022 8:56 AM

The New York Giants are at least open to a potential reunion with Odell Beckham, Jr.

Beckham visited the Giants facility last month to see some of his former teammates, but the free agent didn't meet with New York's general manager or coach.

"I had no idea he was in the building until he was out of the building," general manager Joe Schoen said. "Obviously he's been a good player. He's a guy we would consider and talk to, when he's healthy. I think he did the ACL in February, so not sure really where he is physically.

"But yeah, any player that would upgrade the roster we're going to consider and have conversations with their representatives."
