Giants Will Release Connor Barwin

Jan 30, 2019 9:34 AM

The New York Giants plan to release Connor Barwin, according to sources.

Barwin started three games and finished with one sack in his only season with the team.

The 32-year-old signed a two-year deal worth $3.5 million right before the start of training camp last summer. Barwin would still like to play and the Giants save $1.5 million against the salary cap with the move.

Eli Manning's Agent Hasn't Heard From Giants Yet

Jan 22, 2019 8:46 AM

Eli Manning's agent has yet to speak with the New York Giants about his future.

Tom Condon was asked if he expects Manning to return to the Giants next season.

“Shoot, yeah. I think so . . . I think he’ll be back,” said Condon.

The Giants have missed the playoffs in five of the past six seasons and is now 38 years old with one season remaining on his contract.

If Manning plays under his current deal, his cap hit will be $23.2 million for 2019.

The Giants could approach Manning about a pay cut.

New York could target a quarterback with the sixth overall pick while there are also a few free agents at the position with ties to Pat Shurmur.

Giants Undecided On Future Of Eli Manning With Franchise

Jan 2, 2019 1:38 PM

The New York Giants have yet to decide on the future of Eli Manning in 2019.

Dave Gettleman met with Manning on Monday for a long, "no holds barred" conversation.

“It was a very honest and up-front conversation,” Gettleman told reporters. “… We’re trying to build sustained success. That takes brutal honesty and tough decisions.”

Manning has always been an inconsistent quarterback and generally struggled in 2018 compared to peers in his age group.

“He still can make the NFL throws. He’s still got it, that part,” Gettleman said.

The Giants own the sixth overall pick a year after passing on a number of quarterbacks with the No. 2 pick.
