Kluwe Calls NFL Plaintiffs 'Selfish, Greedy'
Vikings punter Chris Kluwe has pointed a finger at the players listed as plaintiffs in the player's antitrust suit against the NFL.
Kluwe used Twitter to bash plaintiffs in the lawsuit who reportedly are pushing for compensation before settling the case, a power move that some speculate could delay the finalization of a new collective bargaining agreement.
"Sigh, and once again greed is the operative byword," Kluwe posted under his Twitter handle, @chriswarcraft, on Tuesday. "Congrats Brees, Manning, Mankins, and Jackson for being 'that guy'. #douchebags."
When reached Tuesday, Kluwe said he thought carefully about his tweet and simply expressed his feelings on the issue.
"We're so close (to a new CBA), and to jeopardize it for something like that, it seems greedy and selfish," Kluwe said. "It paints players in a bad light. As far as I know, since it is a class-action suit, it's all of us that are being represented."
Manning, Brees Not Seeking Special Treatment
Peyton Manning and Drew Brees are not seeking separate settlements in the Brady vs. NFL antitrust lawsuit that's part of the on-going labor negotiations between owners and players, said the agent for both players.
"Asserting anything else is nonsense," agent Tom Condon said. "Drew and Peyton have been two of the staunchest supporters of the players throughout this process.
"What they are doing is endorsing the players' (bargaining position), not pursing anything individually."
