George: I Would Have Led Vikings To Title
Jeff George, who hasn't thrown a pass in the NFL in eight years, believes that he could have led the Vikings to a Super Bowl title.
"There's no doubt about it," George said in an interview with the Pioneer Press. "Because of the type of defensive personnel they have, and when you have an Adrian Peterson ... you line him up with a veteran quarterback, who knows where to go with the ball, it's an unstoppable combination."
George said: "I guarantee I'd be wearing a ring right now."
Vikings Match Bengals' Offer For FB Tahi
The Vikings have matched an offer fullback Naufahu Tahi received from the Bengals, keeping him in Minnesota.
The team matched Cincinnati's offer of one year and $1.4 million on Friday.
Vikings Give Griffin $28.5M Extension
The Vikings have agreed to terms on a five-year, $28.5 million contract extension with cornerback Cedric Griffin.
The deal includes $10.5 million in guarantees, according to a source.
"It's a commitment from the Vikings, and I'm glad they made that commitment because I'm committed to them," Griffin said. "I want to continue to illustrate that I'm a great player for the Vikings."
Jackson Ready To Compete For Starting Job
Vikings quarterback Tavaris Jackson says that he's ready to compete with newcomer Sage Rosenfels for the team's starting job.
"I'm still going to compete, and I'll do exactly what I normally do," Jackson said Thursday. "I'll do a lot better hopefully [than 2008]. I'm going to work hard. This might push me a little more but that's what competition is all about. I'm not approaching this any differently than I did last year because I still went out and competed."
Jackson entered camp last July as Minnesota's starter, but this time around Rosenfels is expected to enter workouts as the favorite.

Source: Lions, Vikes Could Still Deal For Cutler
Jay Cutler isn't happy that the Broncos thought about trading him this past weekend, but he's not safe as the Lions and Vikings reportedly still have interest.
Historically, the biggest trades are made on the first day of the NFL Draft, which means that Cutler might be in limbo until mid-April.
"You do have to make difficult decisions to make yourself a better team," former Giants coach Jim Fassel said of the situation.
"You have to cut a guy. You have to draft a guy, maybe at your position. People always get offended; you're a player and they draft a player No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3 at your position. All you're trying to do is get better."
T.J. Won't Make Decision Yet
T.J. Houshmandzadeh had said that he would make a decision on where to sign by Sunday night, but his agent claims that a decision isn't imminent.
Houshmandzadeh has visited with the Seahawks, is talking with the Vikings, and reportedly has an offer on the table to remain with the Bengals.
There could be an announcement on Monday, though, with the receiver spending the night in Minnesota.
