Eleven-time Pro Bowl performer Willie Roaf, one of the NFL's premier left tackles during his 13-year career, has informed Kansas City Chiefs officials that he is retiring.
Roaf did not attend training camp with the rest of the Chiefs players.
Chiefs officials said his absence was for personal reasons, but that they expected him to report within a few days.
"I guess they want me to reconsider," Roaf told the Kansas City Star. "[But] I'm solid on retiring and going back to school."

Chiefs Agree To Five-Year Deal With Cornerback Ty Law
Pro Bowl cornerback Ty Law agreed to a five-year deal with the Kansas City on Sunday.
Law will rejoin Herman Edwards, who coached him with the New York Jets last year, when the veteran came back from a severe foot injury and led the NFL with 10 interceptions. Chiefs spokesman Bob Moore said Law will take his physical Monday.
Will Priest Be Ready To Run This Season?
Four more seasons remain on his contract with the Chiefs, and three-time Pro Bowl tailback Priest Holmes would like to play two or three of those years. The reality, however, is that Holmes doesn't know yet if he'll play even one more snap, let alone one more season.
Less than three weeks remain until the Chiefs open training camp and Holmes, still recovering from the severe head and neck trauma he sustained more than eight months ago in a game against San Diego, hasn't been cleared to return to the field.
Ty Law Has Three Teams On Radar
A league source is saying that Cornerback Ty Law has three teams on his radar whom he is considering signing with.
The list includes the Chiefs, Patriots, and Titans. Many believe that Law will sign with whoever ponies up the most money. The Chiefs and Patriots are believed to be the two true contenders.
