Colts Safety Mike Doss Arrested On Gun Charges

Indianapolis Colts safety Mike Doss was arrested Sunday on gun charges. Police heard five or six shots coming from outside a restaurant around 2:20 a.m. ET, and found shell casings in the area and a gun in Doss' vehicle, according to a statement issued by the Akron Police Department. The 24-year-old Doss was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, discharging a firearm within city limits, inducing panic and obstructing official business. He posted bond and was released pending a court appearance.

Colts Rookie Jackson Facing $10 Million Lawsuit

The Indianapolis Colts #1 pick Marlin Jackson is being sued for $10 Million in a civil suit stemming from a 2003 incident in which Jackson hit a man (Shahin Farokhrany) with a bottle during an altercation at a Michigan party. Jackson pled guilty to hitting Farokhrany and received probation for his actions. Afterwards, Farokhrany expressed his willingness to move forward and not pursue civil action against Jackson. "Sometimes, people get drunk and make mistakes," he told the Ann Arbor News. Hopefully, he won't be hitting people in the face again." But money talks, and Farokhrany has since changed his mind and will be trying to get a piece of the rookie Jackson?s contract and future earnings.

James A No-Show For Colts' Minicamp

Edgerrin James was absent for the Colts' mandatory practice, as he is demanding a long-term contract from the club. ``We're missing one guy,'' Dungy said after Friday's workout. He said he had spoken with James and understood why he hadn't shown up. ``It's a little disappointing to us. We want to have everybody here, but our thing is to focus on the guys who are here,'' Dungy said. ``We're getting a lot of good work and we've got to continue that. When Edgerrin gets here, we'll go from there.'' Drew Rosenhaus, James' agent, declined to comment when reached Friday by The Associated Press. Rosenhaus had said in March that James was ``not enthusiastic'' about playing under a one-year contract and that he was negotiating with the Colts and other NFL teams. League Standing Firm On $75,000 Lynch Fine

The NFL has confirmed that it will uphold the $75,000 fine levied on Denver Broncos? Pro Bowl safety John Lynch. Lynch was fined a hit on Indianapolis tight end Dallas Clark in which he led with his helmet. "The appeal was heard by commissioner Paul Tagliabue's designated appeals officer, Jackie Slater, and after deliberation, it was determined there will be no change in the fine," NFL spokesman Steve Alic said.

Colts Pick Up LB Dominique Sims

The Indianapolis Colts have signed another linebacker today adding Dominique Sims to the roster. The undrafted Sims, a four-time Academic All-American, will add to the already powerful Indianapolis linebacker corps. He can also fit in with the Colts' current theme of having versatile players. Sims converted from safety to outside linebacker during his career at Minnesota. Following his final game as a Golden Gopher, he said, "Being unselfish is the one word that I want to be remembered for the most."
