The Panthers have added depth to their backfield in the form of Mike Tolbert. Tolbert could have earned about $1 million more by re-signing with the Chargers, but he was excited by Carolina's four-year offer. "That's how bad he wanted to play there," agent Joel Turner said. "He loves the idea of playing for Ron Rivera and being on the same team with Cam Newton. He just thinks it's a great fit."

The Panthers tagged center Ryan Kalil last year before locking up their Pro Bowl center with a long-term, contract extension.
