Two Slain In Condo Owned By Vilma

Investigators suspect two African immigrants killed at a condo owned by Jonathan Vilma may have been slain as revenge for an Internet scam. The two men were both shot in the head sometime on Thursday in a condominium in Woodward, N.Y., owned by Vilma. Vilma was not there at the time and is not believed to be involved, said New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne.

Burress Case Hearing Adjourned Until June

The gun possession case against Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was adjourned Tuesday until June. Both sides agreed to adjourn the case to June 15 following a brief hearing before Judge Michael Yazinsky. "If the case needs to be advanced to an earlier date it will be ...We are continuing to work our respective investigations, stay tuned," attorney Benjamin Brafman said. Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg with an unlicensed gun at a Manhattan nightclub last fall.

Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress would serve some prison time under a plea deal, according to a report in the New York Times. A plea deal is being seriously considered in the gun possession case against Burress. He is scheduled to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday.

Chiefs' Johnson Gets Two Years Probation

Kansas City running back Larry Johnson was sentenced to two years probation on Friday after pleading guilty to two counts of disturbing the peace for separate incidents involving women at nightclubs in 2008. Johnson is not allowed to consume alcohol or be at any Kansas City bars or nightclubs after 9 p.m., and must complete anger-control counseling and 40 hours of community service.

Stallworth: I Flashed Lights At Pedestrian

Browns receiver Donte Stallworth claims that he flashed his lights before fatally striking a man in Miami Beach earlier this month. A police report released Tuesday also said the pedestrian, 59-year-old Mario Reyes, wasn't in a crosswalk when Stallworth hit him. Police said Stallworth was driving about 50 mph in a 40 mph zone. They are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the accident.

Charles Rogers Jailed For Probation Violation

A judge has jailed former Detroit Lions draft pick Charles Rogers for violating probation in a domestic violence case. Court records show the 27-year-old former Michigan State star receiver tested positive for alcohol and falsified records saying he attended Alcoholic Anonymous meetings. A judge in Novi, Michigan, granted Rogers' request Tuesday to leave a diversion program and serve 30 days in the Oakland County jail, with credit for 15 days served. Rogers was the NFL's second overall pick in 2003. The Lions signed him to a six-year, US$55-million deal, but injuries sidelined him most of his first two seasons. He was cut in 2006.

Raiders T Cornell Green Arrested On Assault Charge

Raiders tackle Cornell Green has been arrested on a domestic violence charge in Florida, according to an Associated Press report. Tampa police say Green became violent Saturday during an argument at his home there with the mother of his two children. Police say Green slammed Teriyonal Ebony Flowers into a wall, then struck her right arm with an aluminum mop handle. Green was arrested at Tampa International Airport before a flight he had planned to take to Oakland, Calif. The tackle was being held Sunday at the Hillsborough County jail on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

A Miami television station and newspaper are reporting that blood tests show that Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth was driving drunk when he fatally struck a pedestrian last weekend. WSVN-TV reported Thursday that unnamed sources with knowledge of the investigation say that Stallworth's blood-alcohol level was .12. The legal limit is .08. The Miami Herald also reported Thursday that an unnamed source says Stallworth's blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit. Victim Mario Reyes died Saturday after being struck by Stallworth's Bentley at 7 a.m. He had just finished an overnight shift at the Port of Miami and was walking to a bus stop.

Former Eagles running back Correll Buckhalter, who signed with the Broncos this offseason, was named by a Delaware County prosecutor among the clients of an alleged drug dealer. Attorney Katayoun M. Copeland, addressing the jury, said that Styles N. Beckles had told police that he sold drugs to pro athletes, including Buckhalter. No charges have been filed against Buckhalter. "Any time you to get some information like this, you have to look at the credibility [of the source]," said John Rickert, Buckhalter's agent, who would not comment further.
