Tomlinson Returns To Practice
LaDainian Tomlinson, who sprained his ankle in the season opener and has not played since, participated in Wednesday's practice.
Felix To Miss Sunday's Game
Felix Jones will miss Sunday's game against Denver because of a sprained posterior ligament in his left knee, according to a source.
It's possible he could miss more time and not return until after the Oct. 18 bye.
Jones was noncommittal on his status, however.
"I can use my two feet," Jones said. "That's good enough, right?"
Pennington Decides On Surgery
Chad Pennington has elected to undergo a third surgery to his right shoulder to repair a torn capsule, sources said.
When he travels Friday to Birmingham, Ala., Dr. James Andrews will perform the procedure.
Andrews has performed each of the other two surgeries on Pennington's shoulder in 2004 and 2005. The capsule is a sheet of tough fibers and fluid that surround the shoulder joint and hold the joint in place.
Gore To Miss Three Weeks With Strain
San Francisco running back Frank Gore will miss three weeks with a strained right ankle.
The 49ers announced on Monday that the strain was revealed in an MRI.
Gore injured the ankle on his only carry of the team's 27-24 loss to Minnesota on Sunday.
Colts' Freeney To Have MRI On Quad
Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney will have an MRI on his right quadriceps after injuring it against the Cardinals on Sunday night.
Freeney said he "felt something pop" on a play in the third quarter.
Haynesworth Carted Off With Hip Injury
Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth left the team's loss to the Lions on Sunday with a hip injury.
Before leaving with the injury, Haynesworth recorded his first sack with Washington, who signed him to a $100 million contract in the offseason.
Giants Don't Think Phillips' Injury Is Career-Threatening
Giants coach Tom Coughlin doesn't believe that safety Kenny Phillips' knee injury is career-threatening.
Phillips "will come back and play football again," Coughlin told the Star-Ledger, " ... First of all, what we've done is in the best interest of the player and the New York Giants because we feel like this young man has an outstanding future."
The injury is believed to have occurred during training camp, but the safety played in both of New York's first two games, tallying 13 tackles and two interceptions.
Patriots Could Be Without Moss, Welker
The Patriots could be without wide receivers Randy Moss and Wes Welker on Sunday against the Falcons.
Both Welker and Moss are listed as questionable and neither took part in the team's drill portion of practice on Friday.
Welker sat out New England's loss the the Jets last week.
Packers' Raji Could Make Season Debut
Green Bay tackle B.J. Raji could make his professional debut against the Rams on Sunday.
The ninth overall pick in April's NFL Draft, Raji injured his ankle in the team's final exhibition game against the Titans.
"It's clearly a medical decision. If he's ready, he'll play. If not, it will be another week," Packers coach Mike McCarthy told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "A lot of times when you're dealing with sprains, they go through the rehab test and they look fine. But it's different for an interior lineman when you're in there and you're pushing on two 300-pound men, or they're pushing on you.
"Until I see him put his foot in the ground and turn and break and have the naturalness to his gait that he showed before, I don't think he's ready to play."
Browns Could Be Without Lewis On Sunday
The Browns could be without running back Jamal Lewis on Sunday against the Ravens.
Lewis missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday with a hamstring injury.
"We're going to have to see with Jamal. He approaches everything the same way, so he's working at it and we'll just have to see where we go through the week," coach Eric Mangini told the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
