The Seattle Seahawks are signing veteran edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr. to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million, a source told NFL Network on Tuesday, filling the defending Super Bowl champions' final roster need this offseason.

Seattle lost Boye Mafe in free agency and did not select an edge rusher in any of its eight picks during last month's NFL draft. Fowler had visited Seattle before the draft.

The 31-year-old brings familiarity with Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde. The two worked together with the Dallas Cowboys and previously with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020, when Durde served as outside linebackers coach.

Fowler joins a veteran defensive front that now includes five players aged 29 or older. DeMarcus Lawrence (34), Uchenna Nwosu (29), Jarran Reed (33) and Leonard Williams (31) round out that group.

Fowler's recent production has been uneven. He recorded just three sacks in 17 games with Dallas last season, his lowest total since 2020, and saw his snap count decline sharply in the final month of the year.

Over his 10-year career, Fowler has accumulated 58.5 sacks, 74 tackles for loss and 15 forced fumbles across 159 games. His peak seasons include 11.5 sacks with the Los Angeles Rams in 2019 and 10.5 with the Washington Commanders in 2024. He has not missed a game since 2021.
