Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta has been fully cleared for training camp, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler Tuesday. LaPorta, 25, underwent a microdiscectomy last season to repair a fully herniated disk.

LaPorta finished last season with 40 receptions for 489 yards and three touchdowns across nine games. Detroit selected him in the second round of the 2023 draft, and he has accumulated 186 catches for 2,104 yards and 20 touchdowns over three seasons.

LaPorta earned Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors as a rookie, setting career highs with 86 receptions, 889 yards and 10 touchdown catches that season. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Detroit's veteran players are set to report to training camp next week.
