Giants wide receiver Steve Smith was told by the organization before the lockout that the team wants him back. Smith suffered a cartilage tear in a Week 14 win against the Vikings and missed the final three games after microfracture surgery. The injury happened just as Smith was preparing for free agency. "As a matter of fact I do," Smith told Pro Football Talk Live on Wednesday when asked if he'd be back with the Giants. "spoke to (GM) Jerry Reese and Coach (Tom) Coughlin and (owner) Mr. John Mara prior to all this lockout stuff, and they want me back. Hopefully, we can work out the business side of things. And the lockout stuff to work out soon."
