Welcome to the top 30 recap; ten quarterbacks, ten wide outs, and ten running backs who made Sunday their personal highlight reel.
Top Ten Quarterbacks
1. Drew Bees: 510yds, 2/3
How did he throw for 500 yards while only getting 16 points? Ah, two interceptions were in the end zone. Got it.
2. J.P. Losman: 340yds, 3/0
I?d like to note that in this game he scored more than the previous six games combined in my league?s scoring system. This is what we call a ?miracle.?
3. Carson Palmer: 275yds, 3/1
C-Palm thrashed an admittedly bad Saints secondary. He won?t have as easy a time against at Cleveland this weekend.
4. Tom Brady: 244yds, 4/0
You knew the Patriots were going to be angry and Brady joined in the action with his second best effort of the year. If he can beat up on the Bears he?s back to ?golden boy? status.
5. Jason Campbell: 196yds, 2/0
This was a stunning performance given he hadn?t thrown a pass all year and he was playing on the road. Plus he didn?t have Portis! What a strange year for fantasy QBs.
6. Phillip Rivers: 222yds, 2/2
He was accurate as all get-out, with only seven incompletions. Wait, only five because the defense caught two. I will say that plenty of QBs would kill to have LT behind them. Literally, as in they would murder.
7. Ben Roethliseberger: 272tds, 2/3
I have to say most QBs are incapable of throwing like this guy. Scrambling, off his back foot, linebacker leaping towards him, and he?s right on target. If Plummer throws some of these balls they are pick six.
8. Seneca Wallace: 252yds, 2/3
He had a respectable fantasy day but he killed the Seahawks dead. Two rushes for 21 yards, that?s nowhere near enough for this guy. Instead of scrambling he threw picks.
9. Matt Leinart: 233yds, 1/0
He?s a work in progress but by the time he gets it together it will be for another coach.
10. Alex Smith: 163yds, 1/0
They didn?t let him throw much because Frank Gore was smoking but he didn?t make mistakes when he did put it up. It?s going to be a few years before they trust him enough to let him take over the game.
Top Ten Running Backs
1. LaDainian Tomlinson: 105yds, 4td
It?s getting otherworldly. Nothing would surprise me in an LT performance anymore. If he levitated and formed eight arms I?d just nod my head knowingly.
2. Larry Johnson: 154yds, 2td
In any other year people would be tripping all over themselves to hurl the MVP at LJ but Tomlinson is so hot people ho-hum at this guys consistent performance.
3. Jamal Lewis: 91yds, 3td
Jamal!! Welcome back friend. I don?t think he?ll ever really be the same but it was nice to see a glimpse of the pre-prison Jamal.
4. Travis Henry: 143yds, 1td
He averaged damn near eight yards a carry. How are there leagues he?s not owned in?
5. Frank Gore: 212yds, 0td
He ran for 212 after getting a concussion the week before. You just know the 49ers will be putting him in a boxing ring this week before the game.
6. Brian Westbrook: 102yds, 0td
He had twelve catches too. That?s filthy. That?s 34 touches for a smudge under 150 yards. Sure, they were all dump off passes but if your league awards reception points you are smirking the smirk of victory.
7. Mike Bell: 90yds, 2td
He was benched last week, thrived this week. I wouldn?t draft a Denver back for 20 bucks.
8. DeAngelo Williams: 114tds, 0td
After Foster hyper-extended his elbow Williams stepped in and stepped up. Thankfully no one in the world received his points.
9. Carnell Williams: 122yds, 0td
It was his best game of the season, very worthy of a tenth round pick. What?s that? You took him in the third? Yes, join the line of the ?doomed? over there please.
10. Samkon Gado: 69yds, 1td
He moved from Nigeria when he was nine. I?m not asking that he be called ?Nigerian Nightmare 2,? I?m demanding it.
Top Ten Wide Receivers
1. Lee Evans: 11 catches, 265yds, 2td
C?mon, anyone could have predicted this day. You knew after the three prior games that produced 8 catches for one TD and 138 total yards that he?d explode. Oh no wait, that?s kooky talk.
2. Chad Johnson: 6 catches, 190yds, 3td
And this was an off game compared to last week. Ocho-Cinco is no longer taking prisoners.
3. Steve Smith: 4 catches, 90yds, 1td
I don?t know anyone that doesn?t like Steve Smith. Even guys who are facing him across the fantasy line of scrimmage can?t bring themselves to hate him.
4. Joe Horn: 3 catches, 93yd, 1td
He came back from a groin injury and picked right up where he left off. Remember in NBA Jams when they?d say ?He?s heating up!? That?s Joe Horn right now.
5. Devery Henderson: 9 catches, 169yds, 0td
He?s easily the best Devery to ever play the game; if you look at the trend he should have zero catches for zero yards next weekend. Consider yourself warned.
6. Mark Bradley: 4 catches, 80yds, 1td
It?s time to pick him up. Well, okay, if you don?t have a good second receiver it?s time.
7. Reche Caldwell: 3 catches, 70yds, 1td
He?s Brady?s new toy. That should make him your compatriot in fantasy arms.
8. Deion Branch: 7 catches, 113yds, 1td
His first big game in a SeaChickens uniform, he?s not to be trusted until he proves it full time. And of course by then it will be too late.
9. Reggie Wayne: 7 catches, 111yds, 1td
It is buffet or starvation every week with this guy. I don?t know how owners don?t go crazy owning him.
10. Braylon Edwards: 7 catches, 137yds, 0td
He was so close to catching two separate Hail Marys too. That would have put him in Ocho-Cinco territory.
