Three-Time Pro Bowl G Brandon Brooks Retires

Jan 26, 2022 11:13 AM

Philadelphia Eagles guard Brandon Brooks is retiring.

A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Brooks has not finished a season healthy since the 2017 season when the Eagles won Super Bowl LII. He's played in just two games over the last two seasons.

"After 10 years in this game, it's true, I am retiring," Brooks said. "The past six years I wouldn't trade for the world. It didn't end the way I would have liked it, but to me it's never about the ending it's about the journey. I was fortunate enough to go on this journey with a group of brothers. Not teammates but family. You'll always be family."

Brooks spent the first four years of his career with the Houston Texans before signing a five-year, $40 million contract with the Eagles before the 2016 season.

Eagles Expect Jalen Hurts To Remain Starting QB In 2022

Jan 20, 2022 8:45 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles expect Jalen Hurts to remain their starting quarterback next season.

"We've got to do whatever we can to continue to help him develop. And how do we do that? By surrounding him with really good players," Roseman said. "Players continue to grow -- that's a huge part of developing. They grow. How they are in their second year is not how they're going to be in Year 4, 5, 6, 7, and they're also products of the people around them. That's on us to continue to build this team."

The Eagles have three first-round picks in April's NFL draft (Nos. 15, 16 and 19 overall). That draft capital, coupled with the interest they showed in Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans heading into this season, fueled speculation that Philadelphia might try to acquire an established veteran quarterback in a trade such as Watson, Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers.

In his first year as a starter, the 23-year-old Hurts completed 61.3% of his passes for 3,144 yards with 16 touchdowns to nine interceptions while leading all quarterbacks with 784 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.

The Minnesota Vikings have requested an interview with Catherine Raiche for their vacant general manager position, according to a report.

Raiche currently serves as the Vice President of Football Operations for the Philadelphia Eagles.

This is believed to be the first GM interview request for a woman in NFL history.

Susan Tose Spencer, who also held VP and legal counsel roles with the Eagles, took over GM duties for the franchise from 1983-85, after being promoted by her father, former owner Leonard Tose.

Jalen Hurts: FedEx Field Railing Collapse Could've Been 'Much Worse'

Jan 5, 2022 10:09 AM

Jalen Hurts has sent a letter to the Washington Football Team and the NFL asking what follow-up action would be taken after Sunday's railing collapse at FedEx Field.

"I tried to handle the situation with a lot of poise and show compassion for the people that fell down, really, but I know it could have been so much worse," Hurts said. "It kind of didn't hit me until after the fact, having some time to reflect on it and think about it. I just wanted to see what could be done to make sure it doesn't happen again. That's all I really care about."

A railing on the side of the tunnel leading to the visiting locker room at FedEx Field collapsed just as Hurts was exiting. Multiple videos show a group of about eight fans falling approximately 6 feet to the ground.

Hurts sidestepped the falling fans and wasn't hit. He helped one individual up and asked several of them if they were OK while posing for pictures.

Nearly A Dozen Eagles Test Positive For COVID-19

Jan 3, 2022 4:18 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles saw almost a dozen players test positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

An NFL Network report states Fletcher Cox, Dallas Goedert and Jason Kelce were among the positive tests.

Other players placed on the COVID/reserve list include Avonte Maddox, Rodney McLeod, Genard Avery, Marcus Epps, Nate Herbig, Jordan Howard, Boston Scott Alex Singleton and Jack Stoll.

Philadelphia clinched a playoff berth with Sunday's win over the Washington Football Team coupled with the Minnesota Vikings' Sunday night loss to the Green Bay Packers.

The NFL's new COVID protocols make it easier for players to return after testing positive. The Eagles will play the Dallas Cowboys in Week 18.
