The Minnesota Vikings expect Sam Bradford to play again this season.

Bradford has not played or practiced since Oct. 9th.

Teddy Bridgewater Expects To Play In 2017

Oct 19, 2017 5:45 PM

Teddy Bridgewater believes he will play at some point in 2017.

The Minnesota Vikings plan to ease him into practices.

Mike Zimmer said Thursday he needs to see that Bridgewater has mobility and can protect himself in the pocket and avoid defenders. Taking baby steps has been critical to his approach.

"It could be just completing a pass down the field or making a sudden movement in the pocket," Bridgewater said Thursday. "Just going to look for little things each day to do whatever I can to get back to who I was before and even better."

Bridgewater said he thought about his return to practice every day since he dislocated his left knee and tore his ACL and other ligaments nearly 14 months ago.

"I used it as motivation," Bridgewater said. "I use that to tell myself, hey, 'I'm one step closer.' Being out there, running out of that tunnel yesterday just did something to me, in a good way."

Teddy Bridgewater has been cleared to return to practice 14 months after injuring his knee.

Dr. Dan Cooper, an orthopedic specialist who performed the major surgery on the dislocation, examined Bridgewater on Monday morning and cleared him to begin practice on Wednesday.

The Vikings now have a decision on whether to take Bridgewater off the PUP list.

Sam Bradford was acquired by the Vikings after Bridgewater's injury but he's dealt with injuries of his own this season.

Teddy Bridgewater Expected To Come Off PUP List

Oct 15, 2017 1:02 PM

Teddy Bridgewater is expected to come off the physically unable to perform list as early as this week, barring any setbacks in his checkup with his knee surgeon on Monday.

Bridgewater dislocated his left knee and tore multiple ligaments on Aug. 30, 2016, and hasn't played or practiced since.

Bridgewater wants to play, but the Vikings would like to give him as much time as possible to heal.

Bridgewater could be back at practice as early as this week and ultimately could loom as a pivotal figure in the Vikings' season.

The Minnesota Vikings are signing Stevan Ridley.

With Dalvin Cook out for the season with a torn ACL, the Vikings needed more depth at running back.

The Minnesota Vikings are hopeful an MRI may diagnose the injury differently.
