Vikings Want To Get More Touches For Cordarrelle Patterson

Oct 21, 2014 5:02 PM

The Minnesota Vikings want to make sure they get more touches for Cordarrelle Patterson than they have over the first three weeks.

“We need to continue to find balance,” Norv Turner said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “When everyone talks about balance, they think it’s run and pass. It’s balance in terms of getting all of our players involved. In my experience when they’re going good, they take someone away or concentrate on someone to give someone else the opportunity. Cordarrelle is a different situation he was a year ago. He’s growing and teams are matching with him and they’re concentrating on him. We’ve got to continue to work ways to get him the ball.”

Vikings Don't Foresee Keeping Adrian Peterson Long-Term

Oct 7, 2014 1:43 PM

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Adrian Peterson "is in denial" about his short- and long-term future with the Minnesota Vikings.

"Several league sources say Adrian Peterson has not come to grips with the fact that his 2014 has all but officially ended," Mortensen said Sunday morning. "His goal to break Emmitt Smith's all-time rushing record is now a fading dream. And his future is in doubt after being indicted for these child abuse charges related to inflicting injuries on his four-year old son."

A source told Mortensen that Peterson "really doesn't get it" and "he is in denial" when it comes to his future with the Vikings and the 2014 season.

Mortensen reported the Vikings "themselves do not foresee Peterson in their future."

Peterson Asked To Take Polygraph Test

Oct 21, 2014 5:05 PM

Adrian Peterson says he requested to take a polygraph test on charges of injuring his son.

A polygraph, or lie detector, is not particularly reliable and is not admissible in court.

Peterson has already admitted to what he did to his son.

The question a jury will ultimately settle is whether that constitutes negligent or reckless injury to a child under Texas law, not whether Peterson is telling the truth about what happened.

The Minnesota Vikings released Jerome Simpson on Thursday, hours after ESPN reported he was cited on July 7 for misdemeanor charges of marijuana possession, driving on a limited license and having an open bottle in a motor vehicle.

Simpson has a Nov. 3 arraignment scheduled in Hennepin County for the charges, which came after a traffic stop in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Simpson was not arrested but was cited for the aforementioned charges.

Simpson was already serving a three-game suspension at the start of the season.

Simpson caught 48 passes for 726 yards last season.

Adrian Peterson Placed On Exempt List By Vikings

Oct 19, 2014 11:09 AM

The Minnesota Vikings have placed Adrian Peterson on the NFL's exempt/commissioner's permission list until his child-abuse case is resolved legally.

Peterson will now be barred from all team activities.

"After giving the situation additional thought, we have decided this is the appropriate course of action for the organization and for Adrian," Vikings owners Zygi Wilf and Mark Wilf said in the statement. "We are always focused on trying to make the right decision as an organization.

"We embrace our role -- and the responsibilities that go with it -- as a leader in the community, as a business partner and as an organization that can build bridges with our fans and positively impact this great region. We appreciate and value the input we have received from our fans, our partners and the community."

Peterson was indicted last week in Montgomery County, Texas, on a felony count of reckless or negligent injury to a child. The charge stems from a whipping incident that left bruises and wounds on much of his 4-year-old son.

Peterson does not have another court date schedule until Oct. 8 and it could be several more months before the case would go to trial.

Adrian Peterson Has 2nd Allegation Of Abuse With Another Son

Oct 19, 2014 10:34 AM

A second case of child abuse has surfaced against Adrian Peterson.

Peterson reportedly administered a "whooping" to another four-year-old son by creating a head wound that left a scar over the boy's right eye.

In a chain of text messages with the boy’s mother, Peterson admits that the wound occurred as Peterson disciplined the boy for cussing at a sibling.

The abuse has not yet led to charges against Peterson.

The boy’s mother filed a report with Child Protective Services; the outcome of the investigation is unclear.
