May 2010 - Minnesota Vikings Wiretap
Report: Raiders, Vikings Discussing Rosenfels
The Raiders may have contacted the Vikings about the availability of quarterback Sage Rosenfels, according to a report.
Even if Brett Favre returns or Minnesota trades for Donovan McNabb, Tarvaris Jackson is expected to be their No. 2 option.
The Vikings acquired Rosenfels from Houston a year ago.
Source: McNabb Rumors Aren't Influencing Favre
Brett Favre is aware that the Vikings have been linked to Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb in trade rumors, but he's not allowing the whispers to influence his decision.
According to a source, Favre isn't feeling pressured to make a decision even though the Eagles appear closer to dealing McNabb than ever before.
Minnesota coach Brad Childress has a history with McNabb.
Tarvaris Still Ahead Of Rosenfels If Favre Doesn't Return
If Brett Favre decides not to return, all indications are that Tarvaris Jackson would be the starter over Sage Rosenfels.
Jackson at this point is a restricted free agent and has yet to sign his tender. Jackson was the No. 2 QB all last season behind Favre on game day.
Brad Childress was asked if Jackson would be in the lead to be the starter if Favre retires, Childress said: ?If you took it off of last year, yeah. But we?re going to get to the field here before we start next year so we?ll just see how those guys have evolved.?
Childress: Favre Can Take As Long As He Needs
Vikings coach Brad Childress still says that quarterback Brett Favre can take as long as he needs to decide on his NFL future.
"We've been able to see at what point he's been able to enter the situation and still be productive," Childress said Monday. "Obviously with that as a known with a 40-year-old quarterback -- there wasn't a big book on that before we started, now we have at least a pamphlet -- we have an idea of where that's at."
Favre signed with the Vikings on Aug. 18 last year -- after the team had already broken its training camp in Mankato, Minn., and had already played its first preseason game.
Childress Has No Plans To Visit Favre
Vikings coach Brad Childress has no immediate plans to visit quarterback Brett Favre.
Childress did not rule out paying a visit to Favre at some point, "but not in the near future."
Minnesota is still waiting for Favre to make a decision on his playing future, an ordeal that has become an offseason tradition.
Glanville Claims He Couldn't Get Favre Sober
Thom Abraham of WNSR in Nashville interviewed former Falcons coach Jerry Glanville, who defended the decision to trade Brett Favre in blunt terms.
"I had to get him out of Atlanta. I could not sober him up," Glanville said. "I sent him to a city where at 9:00 at night the only thing that's open is Chili Joes. You can get it two ways, with or without onions. And that's what made Brett Favre make a comeback was going to a town that closed down. If I would have traded him to New York, nobody to this day would have known who Brett Favre ever was."
Favre has been candid regarding his issues with alcohol and painkillers, which he eventually beat several years ago.
Tomlinson: Favre Didn't Reveal Plans
LaDainian Tomlinson talked with Brett Favre about possibly playing with the Vikings before he decided to sign with the Jets this past weekend.

Those people spoke anonymously because talks are ongoing with Tomlinson.
