Dolphins Granted Gado Off Waivers

Jul 10, 2014 1:52 AM

The Miami Dolphins have been awarded running back Samkon Gado off waivers from the Houston Texans. Gado appeared in just three games this season with Houston, rushing for 46 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. He also caught eight passes for 59 yards. Miami entered a claim for Gado last week after it was learned that Ronnie Brown would be sidelined for the season because of a torn ACL. The team received an exemption from the NFL to finish the transaction because of its trip to London last week. The Dolphins released defensive tackle Sam Rayburn to open a roster spot. Rayburn was signed on October 10 and was inactive for each the team's last three games.

Miami's Thomas Sidelined With Whiplash

Nov 27, 2014 5:39 PM

Dolphins' linebacker Zach Thomas will miss Sunday's game against the Giants in London because of whiplash from a car accident. Tests showed no other symptoms besides the whiplash, Miami coach Cam Cameron said Thursday, but doctors recommended Thomas rest and not travel. He was not at practice. "Obviously, that's unfortunate," Cameron said. "But there are some guys that are going to step up." The 0-7 Dolphins play New York in Wembley Stadium on Sunday in the NFL's first regular-season game outside North America. Thomas was tested for the injury Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

Dolphins Now Need Ricky Williams?

Jul 9, 2014 5:07 PM

Is there any more interest in bringing back Ricky Williams if he is reinstated by the NFL? Cam Cameron still would not comment on the prospect Monday, but he might soon be forced to answer. Williams' agent, Leigh Steinberg, said Monday night he doesn't know how long it will take before the league makes a decision on Williams. It could be several weeks. But Steinberg also said, "It wouldn't surprised me if it happened this week, and it wouldn't surprise me if it happened next week. I think we're getting to the point where it's about right." Williams spent four months this summer at a rehabilitation clinic in Boston. That could be enough to convince the league to let him back. And if that happens, he could be ready to play soon after. "He's just so clear and so upbeat," said Steinberg, who noted there still has been no contact between the Dolphins and Williams or his agent. "He really wants to play. He really does. He's not marginal on it."

Ronnie Brown Done For Season

Oct 31, 2014 6:19 AM

Miami running back Ronnie Brown is out for the rest of the season because of a knee injury. Brown will need surgery to repair a torn ACL, coach Cam Cameron said Monday. He twisted his right knee in the third quarter of the Dolphins' 49-28 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday. "His spirits are up," Cameron said. "He's already talking about getting the surgery and getting ready to get back and get it rehabbed and getting ready for spring."

Miami RB Brown To Undergo MRI On Right Knee

Jan 31, 2014 4:32 AM

Third-year tailback Ronnie Brown, who has represented the bulk of the Miami Dolphins' offense so far in 2007, will undergo an MRI exam Monday morning to determine the extent of a right knee injury that forced him from Sunday's 49-28 loss to the New England Patriots. Brown was injured in the third quarter while attempting to make a tackle on an interception return by Patriots' cornerback Randall Gay. An X-ray on Sunday afternoon was inconclusive, but Brown's right knee was immobilized by an air cast and he walked through the locker room on crutches. The initial diagnosis announced by the team is a sprained knee. But coach Cam Cameron said the MRI would be utilized to provide a more precise determination of the injury.

Has Dolphins' Green Played His Last NFL Game?

Oct 26, 2014 3:41 AM

The Dolphins on Saturday placed Trent Green on injured reserve, leaving many to wonder if the veteran has played his last game in the NFL. Green has been sidelined since suffering a concussion against the Texans on October 7 when he took a knee to the head while trying to throw a block against Houston's Travis Johnson. Though Green has publicly stated that he is feeling no ill-effects from the concussion, this latest move is fueling speculation that the 37-year-old's career is at an end.

Dolphins' Taylor Denies He Wants To Be Traded

Jun 6, 2014 6:15 PM

Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor said through a team spokesman on Thursday that he never told HBO's Peter King that it would be best if he's traded to a contender during the offseason. On this week's Inside the NFL, King said he asked Taylor on Wednesday if he's sorry that he wasn't dealt before Tuesday's trade deadline. "He said, `You're putting me in a tough spot here,' " King said. " 'I've had 10 great years here. I owe a lot to the Dolphins.' " But King also said, "Clearly, Jason Taylor thinks not only would it be in the team's best interests for him to go in the offseason, but it would be in his best interests to go to a contender in the offseason for the last couple of years of his career." Taylor, 33, is due $7.5 million in base salary next season (plus a $500,000 roster bonus) and $8 million in the final year of his contract in 2009. According to a person with access to full terms of his contract, Taylor -- if he remains with the team -- would cost the Dolphins $10 million against the salary cap in '08 and $10.5 million in '09.
