Aaron Rodgers Buys Minority Stake In NBA's Bucks

Apr 23, 2018 8:36 AM

Aaron Rodgers, who has long expressed his love of basketball, has gotten in on the action.

Rodgers has purchased a minority stake in the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks announced the quarterback as a limited partner in the Bucks' ownership group during a playoff game against the Boston Celtics.

Rodgers is the only active NFL player to have an ownership stake in an NBA team, according to the Bucks.

"I have proudly called Wisconsin my home for the past 13 years, and I am thankful for the friendships and the opportunities I have been given to live and play here," Rodgers said in a statement released by the Bucks.

"I am excited and honored to deepen my connection to the region by joining Wes Edens, Marc Lasry, Jamie Dinan, Mike Fascitelli and the ownership group of the Milwaukee Bucks. As a huge fan of the NBA and the sport of basketball, this is a dream come true for me, and I look forward to furthering my affinity for Wisconsin sports as a minority owner in a team I love and support."

Aaron Rodgers Trying To 'Trust The Process' With Packers' Offseason

Apr 17, 2018 10:14 PM

Aaron Rodgers addressed speculation that he's been frustrated by the direction of the Packers this offseason.

The departures of Jordy Nelson and his quarterbacks coach, Alex Van Pelt, were believed to have upset Rodgers.

"Well, I think I know my role, and that's to play as well as I possibly can at quarterback," Rodgers said Tuesday on the first day of the Packers' offseason workouts.

"There are decisions that are going to be made from a personal standpoint. That's the toughest part. You're in this business for a long time, and you start relationships with your coaches and players. As you get older -- and I knew this as a young player -- if I had the possibility and success to play a long time, I'd probably outlive a lot of close friends in this business. Because the longevity offered to a quarterback is obviously greater than a guy who's banging heads all the time, or running all over the field. So that's the toughest part about the whole thing, is losing guys over the years."

Yahoo! Sports reported on Tuesday that Rodgers' frustrations could impact his extension talks.

"Again, this is a professional environment, but as humans we have personal connections to people," Rodgers said Tuesday. "Obviously, [Nelson] was one of my closest friends in the locker room for a number of years, and [we] played together for a long time and talked about really finishing his career here and together, and making the most of the opportunities.

"The disappointment is when you get close to your teammates, and they're not here anymore -- and especially when they're not here, they're playing somewhere else. But the organization is making decisions that they feel like are in best interest for our team, and you've got to trust the process."

Aaron Rodgers Upset To Lose Jordy Nelson, QBs Coach

Apr 11, 2018 11:16 AM

Aaron Rodgers appears disappointed the Packers no longer have Jordy Nelson at wide receiver and Alex Van Pelt as his quarterbacks coach.

"I think it's pretty clear that players play and coaches coach and personnel people make their decisions," Rodgers said in an interview with a Milwaukee radio station late last week. "That's the way they want it."

The Packers cut Nelson on March 9 with one year remaining on the four-year, $39 million extension he signed in 2014.

"It's the tough part of the business; when you get close to guys and spend a lot of time with them and play with them a long time and [you're] not able to finish up with them," Rodgers said. "Jordy and I had a really good feel for each other and obviously made a lot of plays over the years."

The Packers would like to sign Rodgers to an extension this offseason.
