Report: Talib's Trial In 2012

Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib reportedly won't stand trial for his aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge until next year, according to an ESPN.com report. Talib's attorney, Frank Perez, told the St. Petersburg Times on Thursday that Talib had his trial scheduled in Texas for March 26, 2012. Police said they believe Talib and his mother, Okolo Talib, shot at his sister's boyfriend on March 21. The man was not injured. Talib, 25, has been out on $25,000 bond since March 30.

Woman Says T.O. Failed To Pay Some Child Support

The mother of Terrell Owens' child says the NFL star has refused to pay the full $5,000 a month in child support he owes. Melanie Paige Smith filed court papers June 20 in an Atlanta court seeking to hold the player in contempt. Owens "has failed and refused to pay the full amount of child support for June 2011," Atlanta attorney Randall Kessler wrote in court records. Owenss' financial advisers have informed Smith that he's decided to no longer pay the full amount, Kessler added. Kessler said Wednesday that Smith doesn't have any ill will toward Owens.

Suspended Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor drunken driving and was sentenced to a year of probation. Whether he plays next season remains unclear, according to an Associated Press report. St. Joseph County Magistrate Brian Steinke gave Floyd a one-year jail sentence that was suspended as part of a plea agreement.

Woman Tries To Extort Titans Wide Receiver

An Tennessee woman is being charged with extortion in her dealings with Titans receiver Damian Williams. Police told The Tennessean that 22-year old Shelley Anne David faces one count of extortion for attempting to coerce Williams into paying her $5,000. David filed a domestic assault complaint against Williams earlier this month.

Dockett Tweets While Pulled Over

Darnell Dockett gave his Twitter followers a play-by-play account when he was pulled over by police recently. The Cardinals defensive lineman was clearly agitated while posting a series of tweets during the incident Monday. Dockett tweeted that police told him he was pulled over because he was speeding, and they wanted to search his car. "I don't know why the police always messing w/me," he tweeted. Dockett eventually tweeted he was about to be let go, and updated his Twitter page a few hours later by saying he did not receive a ticket from police.

The father of Panthers wide receiver Armanti Edwards has been convicted of murder in South Carolina, according to an NFL.com report. Prosecutors say 63-year-old Freddie Edwards of Greenwood was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in prison after being convicted of murder in the shooting death of a man during a poker game. He also was convicted of possession of a gun during a violent crime.

Authorities say Jets receiver Braylon Edwards was involved in a minor car crash on the Detroit River island park of Belle Isle. Officer Phillip Cook said Edwards was driving a two-seat sports car with an unidentified passenger about 3:40 a.m. Friday when he lost control, drove off the road and into a pylon. Neither he nor his passenger was injured, according to an ESPN.com report.
