The Vikings appear to be nearing a contract extension with cornerback Antoine Winfield. Winfield's agent, Ashanti Webb, was expected to arrive in Minnesota on Wednesday to work on negotiations with the team. The cornerback is entering the final season of a six-year, $34.8 million contract that will pay him $6 million in 2009. "I didn't expect to be in July without a deal," Winfield said in an interview with The Pioneer Press earlier this month. "Personally, I'm a little disappointed. They consider me a core player, but they're not showing me that."
