An Tennessee woman is being charged with extortion in her dealings with Titans receiver Damian Williams.
Police told The Tennessean that 22-year old Shelley Anne David faces one count of extortion for attempting to coerce Williams into paying her $5,000.
David filed a domestic assault complaint against Williams earlier this month.
Titans Add Bonik To Coaching Staff
The Titans have added a new member to their coaching staff.
Devin Bonik was hired as an assistant to head coach Mike Munchak, according to source.
Bonik held the same position with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2003 to 2009.
Johnson Has Money On Mind, Prepared For Holdout
The contract of Titans running back Chris Johnson is expected to be an issue once the NFL league year resumes.
The team was able to satisfy him by adding $1.5 million to his $500,000 base salary prior to the 2010 season, but he'll likely demand more this time around.
Johnson, set to receive just $800,000 in 2011, is preparing for a much more prolonged holdout if need be and remains committed to joining the game's highest-paid running backs, according to sources.
Britt Explains Facebook Fiasco
Titans receiver Kenny Britt created quite a stir on Monday with his Facebook fiasco.
On Tuesday, he offered an explanation in an attempt to clear some things up via a statement issued to The Tennessean.
"I have the utmost respect for Commissioner Goodell, the NFL and the TN Titans," Britt said. "The Facebook posting as reported was not made by myself nor have I given any statements to anyone regarding this matter. It is not a defense but a fact that this Facebook page and associated email account were hacked and reported more than 120 days ago."
Britt allegedly posted on his Facebook account Monday that he was retiring from the NFL, and used an expletive toward commissioner Roger Goodell for good measure.
A string of apologetic messages followed, when he said he's ready to play this fall.
Teams Looking Into Whether Young Mishandled Finances
Although free agency hasn't yet officially begun, Vince Young isn't getting much attention on the market despite a number of teams in need of a quarterback.
Young, a former third overall pick, hasn't been released by the Titans but the organization has confirmed that he won't return.
It is believed that teams are concerned about Young's lack of maturity and FOX Sports writes that they are even investigating whether he has mishandled his money.
Mason: Players Love Jeff Fisher
Derrick Mason, a longtime player under Jeff Fisher, explained recently why the former Tennessee coach has enjoyed so much NFL success.
"He's been a fixture in my life the last 15 years," said Mason, who played six seasons under Fisher before joining the Ravens as a free agent in 2005.
He was one of many former players scheduled to take part in Fisher's annual charity softball game.
"Guys came back for this because they love him. I don't think too many coaches, once they leave, have guys come back and show how much they appreciate him. I know I wasn't going to miss this."
Johnson's Goal: 'Get To The Super Bowl'
Chris Johnson says his focus when football returns will be on helping the Titans get back to the postseason.
"My goal is to make it to the playoffs," Johnson said. "We haven't been to the playoffs in two years, so my goal is to get to the Super Bowl."
Johnson, who received about $2.1 million in a renegotiated deal last year, hasn't been to the playoffs since the 2008 season, and has that atop his list of goals for 2011.
While his current deal has two years remaining, Johnson will leave that matter to agent Joel Segal once the lockout is settled.
"I'm going to ... worry about playing football at this point," he said.
Fisher Won't Worry About Coaching Until After Season
Former Titans coach Jeff Fisher says he isn't going to worry about finding another job in the field until after the upcoming NFL season.
"That's going to be a January thing. That's next year. I don't think much about it. I don't pay much attention to it," Fisher said of searching for another job.
Fisher stepped down from Tennessee's position after 16 years.
Chris Johnson Will Hold Out For New Deal
Don't expect running back Chris Johnson to report to the Titans without a new contract.
Johnson badly wants a new deal and won't attend training camp without one.
Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean writes that "too many sources" believe that Johnson isn't going to back down on his contract demands.
