Likely to soon be bumped from the top spot on the depth chart, probably by the September 10th regular-season opener, Tennessee Titans quarterback Billy Volek will waive the no-trade clause in his contract to facilitate a move to another NFL team.
Expected to supplant the departed Steve McNair as the Tennessee starter, Volek has been rendered all but extraneous by the Monday signing of veteran quarterback Kerry Collins to a one-year deal. In what has been a cram course to get Collins practice time, and to accelerate his learning curve in a new offense, Volek has seen his snaps reduced this week.
There is a possibility that Volek won't accompany the Titans to Green Bay for the Friday preseason finale.

Titans Sign Kerry Collins
The Tennessee Titans today agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent quarterback Kerry Collins, a veteran of 11 NFL seasons with the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and most recently the Oakland Raiders.
"This is a matter of upgrading our roster," Titans General Manager Floyd Reese said. "Kerry brings a great deal of experience to our team and has won a lot of games over his career. He adds instant depth to our quarterback group."
Report: Talks Heating Up Between Titans And Veteran QB
Vince Young might be the future, but the now must not look so hot.
The Tennessean reported on its Web site on Sunday night that talks had heated up between the Titans and veteran quarterback Kerry Collins.
Titans "Pacman" Jones Arrested
Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested outside a bar early Friday and charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
Officers saw Jones arguing loudly with a woman outside a nightclub where a rap concert had been held, according to the police report. The 22-year-old Jones was described by police as slurring his speech, having bloodshot eyes and smelling strongly of alcohol.
The arrest came the day after the Titans broke training camp.
Young Hurts Throwing Hand, X-Rays Negative
Rookie quarterback Vince Young gave the Tennessee Titans a scare on Wednesday when the back of his throwing hand slammed against a helmet during practice.
Young was examined on the field, then walked off for X-rays and did not return to practice. Coach Jeff Fisher said he wasn't too concerned, because the preliminary examination on the field indicated only a bruise.
"He's going to be all right. X-rays were negative," Fisher said. "He's going to have a sore hand, and we haven't ruled him out for the game."
Titans Want Second-Round Pick For Chris Brown
With Lee Suggs failing a physical, running back options for the Jets are limited.
The Titans appear unwilling to deal Chris Brown for anything less than a second-round pick, and the Redskins are unlikely to yield Ladell Betts after the shoulder injury to Clinton Portis.
"It's fair to assume that there could be a lot of moves," Mangini said. "The moves are going to be predicated on the opportunities, and the opportunities are going to be based on whether that move can improve the team."
Saints' QB Hit By Golf Cart Ridden By Titans' Mascot
New Orleans quarterback Adrian McPherson went to the locker room early in the third quarter after a golf cart ridden by the Titans' mascot hit him at the end of halftime.
A Saints spokesman wasn't immediately available for an update on the quarterback, who's heading into his second season.
The mascot was riding on a golf cart and throwing items into the stands during halftime, and was heading off the field when the Saints were returning from their locker room for the third quarter.
The cart hit McPherson, who stayed on the field for a few minutes being checked out by a trainer on the sideline. He then walked off the field.
Titans DT Starks Arrested
Defensive tackle Randy Starks missed the Titans' exhibition opener Saturday night after turning himself in following a charge that he assaulted his fiancee.
"I told Randy there was no place for him here as far as being a part of the team tonight. What follows is a legal issue. Anything is between him and the club. I just felt it was best he did not participate with his teammates," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said.
Bush Outshines Young On Saturday Night
Reggie Bush looks every bit as good in the NFL as he did at USC.
Vince Young is a fan favorite, but needs to learn when to throw the ball away.
Todd Bouman tossed a 22-yard touchdown pass to Lance Moore with 3:30 left, and the Saints rallied for a 19-16 victory over the Titans in coach Sean Payton's coaching debut.
Bush needed all of two carries to show why New Orleans took him with the second pick overall. Stopped behind the line while going to his left, the Heisman Trophy winner bounced out, turned right and zoomed past two Titans up the sideline for 44 yards to the Tennessee 24. He finished with 59 yards on six carries.

New Orleans quarterback Adrian McPherson went to the locker room early in the third quarter after a golf cart ridden by the Titans' mascot hit him at the end of halftime Saturday night.
