Eagles Say Romo Is Better Without 'Distractions'
Eagles coach Andy Reid and quarterback Donovan McNabb hinted on Wednesday that Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is better without Terrell Owens.
"It's obvious (Romo) is the leader of the offense," Reid said. "Not that he wasn't before, but there were a couple of distractions there and he doesn't have any of that. He's just playing great football."
McNabb was asked about the differences in the Cowboys this year and last year.
"It's Tony's team," McNabb said. "The good thing about playing the quarterback position, when you have the reins and you have command of the guys, and the guys are following along with everything they tell them and show them, good things can happen. You've seen in recent weeks, the team has really played well and Tony's played well as well. That's part of the difference you see on that whole ball team."
Saints Get Home Field, Eagles Could Get Bye
We know what six teams will represent the NFC in the playoffs, but positioning is to be determined.
With Minnesota's loss to Chicago on Monday night, New Orleans clinched the first overall seed and home-field throughout.
Philadelphia can clinch the second bye, with the Saints getting the first, if they beat Dallas on Sunday and win the NFC East in the process.
The Vikings can grab the bye if the Eagles lose and they win this Sunday.
Arizona can take the bye if both Philadelphia and Minnesota lose and they win.
The Packers will be either a No. 5 or No. 6 seed, but the Cowboys can jump all the way to No. 2 with a win over the Eagles and a loss by both the Vikings and Cardinals.
Eagles Lose Center Jackson To ACL Tear
Eagles center Jamaal Jackson will miss the remainder of the season after tearing a knee ligament in Sunday's win over the Broncos.
"It's obviously a big loss. He's a good football player," coach Andy Reid said Monday.
Jackson made his 71st consecutive start against the Broncos and had been Philadelphia's only offensive player to play every snap until he got hurt in the first half.
Vick Questionable Against Broncos
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
He missed practice on Friday with the quadriceps bruise he suffered against the 49ers last weekend.
"I can't do what I like to do," Vick said.
Vick says that he hasn't run since the injury.
"We're still working with him to see if he can come around and be able to give us something on Sunday," head coach Andy Reid said.
Royal Won't Play Against Eagles
Broncos wide receiver Eddie Royal will not play on Sunday against the Eagles.
Royal missed every practice this week with neck and hand injuries and was absent from Friday's indoor workout.
He has 37 catches for 345 yards this season.
Boos In Philly Won't Bother Dawkins
Broncos safety Brian Dawkins won't be bothered if fans in Philadelphia greet him with boos on Sunday.
Dawkins played for the Eagles for 13 seasons before signing with Denver as a free agent this past offseason.
"They are die-hard for their team," Dawkins said Wednesday. "If you're on the opposing team, you are no longer on their team. I don't expect 100 percent cheers out there."
Eagles coach Andy Reid believes that fans at Lincoln Financial Field will greet Dawkins warmly.
"Philly is a blue-collar place," said Dawkins. "They work hard for what they have. ... They want someone to care as much as they do. If they don't feel like you're giving your all, if they don't feel like you're pouring yourself out on the field, then they're going to let you know about it."
Vick Named Eagles' Recipient Of Courage Award
Michael Vick has won the Ed Block Courage Award, voted on by his teammates on the Eagles.
"It means a great deal to me," Vick said Wednesday. "I was voted unanimously by my teammates. They know what I've been through. I've been through a lot. It's been great to come back and have an opportunity to play and be with a great group of guys. I'm just ecstatic about that and I enjoy every day."
Westbrook Cleared To Face Broncos
Eagles running back Brian Westbrook has been cleared to play on Sunday against the Broncos.
Westbrook is recovering from a pair of concussions and has played in just six games this season.
Philadelphia coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that Westbrook did "perfect" on his testing and is "ready to roll."
Westbrook missed the past five games after suffering his second concussion in three weeks on Nov. 15 against San Diego.
Eagles Could Have Westbrook Against Broncos
The Eagles could get running back Brian Westbrook back for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
"We'll know more here by tomorrow," Eagles coach Andy Reid said at his Monday news conference about the possibility of Westbrook playing. "Right now it looks pretty good."
Westbrook has suffered two concussions this season.
"I think he'll be pretty fresh," Reid said. "He'll have fresh legs out there. Obviously he's not going to play the whole game. [We will] make sure we keep track of how many plays he plays if it comes down to that."
