Raiders Cut CB Damon Arnette After Video With Threats

Nov 9, 2021 9:04 AM

The Las Vegas Raiders have waived Damon Arnette after video surfaced this weekend of the second-year cornerback making death threats while brandishing firearms.

Arnette, 25, had been on injured reserve since October 9. He is also facing lawsuits stemming from a Las Vegas car accident last October.

He was a first-round pick in 2020.

"Very painful decision," Mike Mayock said. "We spent significant time, effort and resources trying to help him in all aspects of his life.

"There have been a series of bad decisions over the last year or so, but we can't stand, we cannot stand for the video of Damon with a gun, threatening to take a life. The content was unacceptable, contrary to our values and our owner Mark Davis has been very clear and very consistent that this is not how we will conduct ourselves in this community. The bottom line -- the Raiders will not tolerate this type of behavior."

Derek Carr: I'll 'Be There' For Henry Ruggs

Nov 5, 2021 9:01 AM

Derek Carr spoke out about the situation surrounding Henry Ruggs, who was cut by the Las Vegas Raiders after causing a fatal car accident while he was under the influence of alcohol.

"I will always be here for him. That won't change, and I will prove that over the course of time to him. Not to anybody else," Carr said. "But he needs people to love him right now. He's probably feeling a certain type of way about himself right now, and he needs to be loved. And if no one else will do it, I'll do it."

Ruggs was driving at 156 MPH with a blood alcohol content two times over the legal limit when he crashed into another vehicle on Tuesday morning, killing a 23-year old woman and her dog.

Raiders Release Henry Ruggs After Fatal Crash

Nov 3, 2021 8:35 AM

The Las Vegas Raiders released Henry Ruggs III on Tuesday night following his involvement in a vehicle crash earlier in the morning that left a woman dead.

Ruggs faces felony charges of driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death and reckless driving, per court records.

He was released from a hospital and taken to jail earlier Tuesday ahead of an initial court appearance scheduled on Wednesday.

The Chevrolet Corvette that Ruggs, 22, was driving slammed at high speed into the rear of a Toyota Rav4 on a busy thoroughfare in a residential area several miles west of the Las Vegas Strip at about 3:39 a.m. local time Tuesday.

Ruggs and his passenger, Kiara Je'nai Kilgo-Washington, with whom he has a young daughter, were hospitalized with "serious" injuries that police said did not appear life-threatening. The Toyota burst into flames and the driver and her dog died, police said.
