Henry's Child Support Judgments Won't Draw NFL Discipline

Nov 17, 2014 11:16 AM

Broncos running back Travis Henry's child support judgments might expose him to catcalls across the league this season, but they don't put him in line for disciplinary action by the NFL. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported over the weekend that court documents in a Georgia child support case show Henry, 28, has fathered nine children by nine women in four southern states and has been ordered to pay child support for seven of them. He also had to borrow money from his former team, the Titans, to fulfill one of those judgments, according to court records.

Henry Borrowed Money From Titans To Pay Child Support?

Nov 17, 2014 11:16 AM

The Titans had no comment Sunday about a published report that they loaned former running back Travis Henry $9,800 for child support payments. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Henry, 28, fell behind on support payments for a child in DeKalb County, Ga., to Jameshia Beacham, 29, that were mandated by a previous order. Threatened with jail, he borrowed the money from the Titans to pay the bill, according to court records. Henry, a former University of Tennessee star, played for the Titans in 2005-06. He was acquired in a trade with Buffalo in the summer of 2005, and received a base salary of $1.25 million that season. Last year Henry made the NFL veteran minimum of $585,000. The newspaper reported that Henry, 28, has fathered nine children by nine women in Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina and Georgia. He has been ordered to provide child support for seven of them, according to court records involving the child living in DeKalb County. Henry, who now plays for the Broncos, has a $25 million contract and a base monthly salary approaching $50,000. Court records show that he spent $100,000 for a Mercedes and $146,000 for jewelry.

Quinn Once Again Effective For Browns

Jun 19, 2014 8:01 PM

Preseason games don't count and neither do touchdowns that are erroneously ruled incompletions, as Brady Quinn discovered Saturday night. Quinn was efficient and effective for the second straight game, leading the Browns past the Broncos 17-16, although it probably wasn't enough to win him the starting job over Charlie Frye.

Henry's MRI Results Negative

Oct 10, 2014 7:47 PM

The MRI on Travis Henry was negative, confirming the initial diagnosis of a first-degree sprain in Henry's left knee. "Man, I can't tell you how relieved I was," Henry said. "I woke up with some discomfort this morning, so when that MRI came back, it was a blessing. Because the way they got me, I could have easily had something seriously wrong." On first-and-goal Saturday night from the Dallas 3, Henry barreled into a scrum and had his left knee twisted one way while Cowboys were twisting from the top. He was stopped at the 2, then tried to limp off the field before team personnel went out to help carry him to the bench.

Raiders Trade For DT Warren From Denver

Aug 27, 2014 4:18 PM

The Denver Broncos found a surprising trade partner to unload defensive tackle Gerard Warren ? the rival Oakland Raiders. The Broncos shipped Warren to the Raiders on Monday for an undisclosed 2008 draft pick. Just one year ago, Warren was deemed the Broncos' best defensive linemen as evidenced by the six-year, $36 million contract he signed before injuries to both big toes led to an unproductive 2006 season.

Broncos Lose Ekuban For Season, Henry Sprains Knee

Oct 11, 2014 4:43 PM

Denver starting defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban likely suffered a season-ending torn Achilles' tendon, and running back Travis Henry sprained his left knee in the Broncos' 31-20 preseason loss to Dallas on Saturday night. Ekuban hurt his right Achilles' in the second quarter. He slammed his helmet to the turf and was in obvious pain. Across the field, his agony was felt by former college and Cowboys teammate Greg Ellis, who is slowly trying to come back from the same injury. "It's a shame to lose Ebenezer for the year," coach Mike Shanahan said. "He's been a real leader for us."

Broncos Looking To Deal Warren

Oct 10, 2014 7:59 PM

Broncos defensive tackle Gerard Warren did not make the trip to San Francisco on Sunday as the team attempts to trade him. Two NFL sources confirmed Warren, who started the past two seasons for the Broncos, is on the trading block. The Broncos would pick up part of his salary, which was trimmed during the offseason. Warren, who had 51 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks last season, became expendable because he is not considered a good fit for Jim Bates' system where tackles are to primarily leverage their position and hold the point. Warren is a tackle who can penetrate the backfield. Should Warren be traded, Jimmy Kennedy would start alongside Sam Adams at defensive tackle. Veteran Alvin McKinley and rookie Marcus Thomas would also move up the depth chart.
