NBC Sports announced Monday it has acquired rights to an additional NFL game on Saturday, January 2, 2027, as part of the league's final regular-season weekend. The network made the disclosure during its upfront presentation to advertisers.
The new game will air at 4:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports and Peacock, followed by an 8 p.m. ET contest available exclusively on Peacock. Combined with Sunday Night Football on January 3, NBC Sports will carry three NFL games during the season's penultimate weekend.
"With three NFL games in exclusive national windows on the season's penultimate weekend, we continue to deliver for our owned stations, affiliates, and partners," said NBC Sports president Rick Cordella.
The network has not disclosed which teams will appear in any of those games. That information will be released as part of the NFL's full schedule announcement on Thursday. NBC Sports previously confirmed a Cowboys-Giants matchup on September 13 to open the 2026 Sunday Night Football slate.
NBC Sports will broadcast 26 NFL games in total this season, covering the Hall of Fame game on August 6, 22 regular-season contests, two wild-card playoff games, and one divisional postseason broadcast.
The network also introduced former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin as a new addition to its Football Night in America pregame show.
"Talking football is a natural act for me, and I'm excited for this new challenge," Tomlin said.
Fox separately expanded its 2026 NFL schedule, picking up rights to two additional games.
