Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams have made significant progress on a contract extension. Stafford is entering the final season of his current contract worth $48.266 million.
Stafford restructured his contract into a two-year, $84 million deal in May 2025 following offseason trade rumors. Stafford responded by having an MVP season and also led the Rams to the NFC Championship Game.
The Rams have been linked with selecting a developmental quarterback at some point, but Stafford remains one of the NFL's elite quarterbacks at the age of 38. The Rams acquired Stafford from the Detroit Lions for Jared Goff in 2021.
