The Cleveland Browns were unable to successfully trade Baker Mayfield at the draft. ESPN's Jake Trotter detailed their attempts.

The Carolina Panthers wanted the Browns to pay a significant portion of Mayfield's $19 million contract as the two sides discussed a trade during the second round. The Browns declined and Carolina traded up into the third round to select Matt Corral of Ole Miss.

Instead of Mayfield competing with Sam Darnold for the starting job, it will be Corral. Mayfield, meanwhile, remains in limbo.
