DeAndre Hopkins wasn't surprised when he was traded by the Houston Texans to the Arizona Cardinals at the start of the offseason.

Hopkins said he heard rumors about a potential trade as early as the start of the 2019 season.

"It wasn't a big surprise to me after the year," Hopkins said Friday. "I was preparing for it."

Hopkins was working out in Los Angeles with Julio Jones when he started hearing about a potential trade.

"I was very excited, actually, about it because [of] what Arizona has been building, having a young quarterback, a young team and also having veterans," Hopkins said.

Hopkins had hoped to restructure his contract with the Texans to the range of $18 million to $20 million annually.
