Ray Rice may get the chance to return to the NFL this season, according to a source.

Rice hasn't played since 2013 following his indefinite suspension by the NFL for domestic violence that was later overturned by a neutral arbitrator.

After Week 1, NFL player contracts no longer are guaranteed for the season.

Rice told USA Today Sports in July that he would donate his entire 2016 salary to charity if signed by an NFL team this season.

The Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills have considered signing Rice in the past.

Rice has continued to work out and people within the NFL have been impressed by how he's handled his exile. The league office has even considered hiring Rice as a spokesman.
