Stanford upset Oregon 26-20 in a game that was made close by a frenetic series of special teams plays by the Ducks with the game seemingly out of reach late in the fourth quarter.

Stanford's gameplan was to run the ball frequently and keep Oregon's offense off the field.

Tyler Gaffney had 45 carries for 157 yards, while quarterback Kevin Hogan ran eight times for 57 yards and a touchdown.

As the fourth quarter began, David Shaw informed his offense that Stanford would stop throwing the ball for the rest of the game.

"We're not going to pass it anymore," said Shaw. "We're done. We're going to run the ball and we're going to run them out of the stadium."
