Alex Smith and Michael Crabtree are developing a strong connection during 2012 after they were long at odds for a conservative approach.

“You’ve got to give people chances to make plays,” Crabtree said. “You’ve got to make plays … Half the time you’re not going to be open. That’s why they call you a playmaker – just give you chances.”

Smith has very modest numbers in the red zone, but he rarely throws an interception.

“Just two guys again, making a play, being on the same page,” Jim Harbaugh said. “Knowing body language. Seeing body language. (They) made eye contact and the two of them made a play. I think that evidence speaks for itself, two guys on the same page.”
