The New England Patriots were primarily a shotgun team on offense during the 2011 season, but showed very little of it in Week 1 against the Titans.

"Tom Brady threw from that formation on just 19 percent of the Patriots plays," wrote Andy Benoit. "Last season, Brady threw from the shotgun on 51 percent of the plays. Against Tennessee, the Patriots also used their run game to set up their pass game -– something they haven’t done in years."

With Wes Welker featured less, and tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez receiving more attention, the formation usage of the Patriots will be interesting to monitor in the early part of the season.
