Austin Davis enters the 2012 season as an undrafted rookie backing up Sam Bradford at quarterback for the St. Louis Rams.

Davis played collegiately at Southern Miss, breaking all of Brett Favre's passing records along the way.

"He's got to be prepared to play," coach Jeff Fisher said. "He knows what to do. He didn't get a single rep out here with the offense, but he's paying close attention to it and if called upon, he'll be ready."

Davis made the team largely due to his level of preparation.

Davis completed 22 of 34 passes for 220 yards during the preseason, beating out Tom Brandstater and Kellen Clemens.

"He went in each and every week and he was prepared," offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said. "Sometimes when you play in the fourth quarter, you're playing with guys who are still trying to figure things out. He moved around. He made plays, threw the ball well and we just kind of liked his demeanor and how he ran things. For a young player stepping into a huddle, being able to consistently move the team, that's a good sign."
