Vince Young secured the backup quarterback position with the Bills on Monday.

Chan Gailey said that Young will remain the second team quarterback during practice this week and for Saturday's game against the Steelers.

"Vince Young has performed well enough in the last two games to warrant more work," Gailey said.

"We need to see how he can handle more game plan, more playing time, more everything. It's not an indictment on Tyler. It's just Vince has done some good things and we know where Tyler is. We've got to evaluate Vince more."

Young has outperformed Tyler Thigpen during the preseason.

Gailey said Young has "made more things happen. So you've got to give him credit for that. But we need to see how much he can handle, see if he can handle the whole load because once you get to the season he doesn't get many reps. So we've got to find out how he can handle all this."
