In an interview with NFL Total Access, Wes Welker discussed his contract situation in New England and status for the team's OTAs. New England used their franchise tag on the receiver, meaning he'll make $9.5 million in 2012 if he signs the tender. "It's a lot of money," he said. "How can you ever be upset about that? It's more than half of what my last contract was over five years. So one year, $9.5 (million) -- it's not a bad deal. I'm not too worried about it." Welker was then asked if he would show up for the team's voluntary OTAs. "Still looking to try and decide on that. I'm in no rush and we'll figure it out," he said. "Me and my agent and the Pa ... (he stopped short of saying Patriots) we're all on the same page with everything. Just looking to move forward and looking forward to the 2012 season."
