The Steelers plan to retain Mike Wallace, but how they'll do so remains to be seen. Maneuvering for more cap space, Kevin Colbert has let it be known that Pittsburgh will let its free agents hit the open market. Wallace would be a restricted free agent coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora suggested Tuesday that it's "more likely" the Steelers will place the highest free-agent tender on Wallace than use the franchise tag. As a restricted free agent under the highest tender, other teams would have to part ways with a first-round pick as well as ante up a new contract for Wallace.
