Penn State assistant coach Mike McQueary, a key witness in the child sex abuse scandal that has engulfed the school, has been placed on administrative leave. Mike McQueary's father told ESPN.com on Friday night that his son is not in State College, but added that he did not believe he had been placed in protective custody. The Patriot-News of Harrisburg had reported McQueary told players Friday during a brief conference call that he was in protective custody outside of State College. McQueary's father added that he knew he his son was safe. School president Rod Erickson notified McQueary of the decision to place him on administrative leave Friday, a day after the school said the receivers coach would not be present Saturday when the Nittany Lions play Nebraska because he has received threats.
