Heisman candidate Cameron Newton and the Auburn Tigers defeated LSU by a final of 24-17 in a battle of No. 4 and No. 6. Both teams came into the game previously undefeated. Newton rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns, including a highlight reel run of 49 yards in the third quarter. Newton knifed through most of LSU's defense on the run, including Patrick Peterson near the end zone. LSU tied the game at 17 in the fourth quarter on a Rueben Randle touchdown. But Onterio McCalebb scored the game-winner with 5:05 remaining in the game when he rushed for a 70-yard touchdown. Auburn's next three games are against unranked teams before they travel to Alabama on Nov. 26th.
