The Notre Dame coaching search may or may not have begun already, but one name that is sure to come up early and often is Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly. On Monday I exchanged texts with someone close to Kelly regarding the opportunity and got the following in return: ?ND wouldn?t even be #2 on his list? and ?I really doubt he leaves this year?. Know this as well: Brian Kelly genuinely believes he can win the 2011 BCS title game at Cincinnati with the team he?s got coming back, and that is not a delusional thought. One bizarre name I heard, albeit from a usually reliable source, being discussed by Notre Dame: Jimmy Johnson. Johnson hasn't coached at any level since 1999 with the Miami Dolphins. From 1984 until 1988, Johnson coached the hugely successful but controversial Miami Hurricanes after a previous head coaching stint at Oklahoma State.
