EA Sports may not announce what NFL player will be on the cover of Madden 2010 until the weekend of the 2009 NFL Draft. There has been a longstanding belief that the cover athlete suffers from a "jinx" during the season which he graces the game's cover. Last season's feature athlete, Brett Favre, was originally featured in a Green Bay jersey as a tribute, but a second edition was released with him in a Jets' uniform after he came out of retirement.
