Lance Briggs Seeks Raise, Not Trade
Bears linebacker Lance Briggs wants a new contract, but the six-time Pro Bowler insists that the issues won't be a distraction.
"I'm going to go out and play the game the way I've always played it and see what happens," Briggs said. "I'm going to plug away and do what I've always done. I'm here to help us win a championship."
Briggs emphasized he won't immediately seek a trade.
"I am not asking to be traded, nor do I want to be traded," Briggs said. "I love it here. I am a Chicago Bear."
Eagles Fielding Offers For Joselio Hanson
The Eagles have received "multiple" trade offers for Joselio Hanson, according to a league source.
There is a good chance that Philadelphia will deal Hanson by Sept. 3, the final deadline to trim rosters.
Hanson, one of only nine Eagles remaining from the 2006 team, has played in 82 games in five years with the Eagles.
Frustrated Gore Could Request Trade
49ers running back Frank Gore is "frustrated" that he's yet to receive a contract extension, according to a report.
Talks between San Francisco and Gore's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, have reportedly gotten "volatile" and a trade request could be coming soon.
However, Gore's training-camp holdout lasted just four days and there have been no obvious signs since that there is serious acrimony between the two-time Pro Bowl running back and the team.

The 49ers and running back Frank Gore are far apart on a contract extension.
Gore wants a contract similar to the one DeAngelo Williams received from the Panthers, according to a source.
He is due to earn $4.9 million in 2011, the final year of his contract.
Williams received a five-year, $43 million deal from Carolina earlier this offseason.
Broncos Almost Traded Orton Before 2010 Season
Woody Paige of The Denver Post writes that former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels almost traded quarterback Kyle Orton prior to the 2010 season.
Amid controversy, Orton reportedly asked for a trade following last season.
Orton enters the 2011 season as Denver's starter, but Brady Quinn and Tim Tebow are also in the mix.
Paige predicts that Tebow will be the team's No. 1 quarterback by December. Former Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler will visit Mile High with the Bears on Dec. 11.
Bears Back Off Pursuit Of Taylor Mays
The Bears tried to trade for 49ers safety Taylor Mays, but the deal is now a "dead issue," according to sources.
Chicago likely would have moved Mays from his customary safety spot to linebacker had San Francisco agreed to the transaction.
It was not clear what the Bears were willing to give up for Mays.
Charles Was Almost Traded To Redskins
The Redskins very nearly acquired running back Jamaal Charles from the Chiefs before he exploded onto the scene.
Charles was fourth on the depth chart when Todd Haley took over in Kansas City in 2009, so Washington called offering a fourth-round pick.
According to Redskins executive Vinny Cerrato, the Chiefs countered by asking for third-round pick.
The Redskins said no and talks fizzled.
Bears May Have Made Offer For Taylor Mays
The Bears may have made an offer to the 49ers regarding safety Taylor Mays, according to a report.
San Francisco is believed to have rejected the deal.
Mays declined to comment and the 49ers denied that an offer was made.
Eagles Seek Two 2nd Round Picks For Samuel
The Eagles have said that they are comfortable keeping all three of their top cornerbacks on the roster.
However, that doesn't mean general manager Howie Roseman hasn't shopped Asante Samuel or listened to offers for the veteran.
Philadelphia is asking for two second-round draft picks in return for Samuel, according to a source.
The Eagles acquired Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in the Kevin Kolb trade with the Cardinals and also signed top free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
Umenyiora Still Planning For Trade
Giants defensive Osi Umenyiora returned to practice with the team on Monday, but he is still in the midst of a contract stalemate with the team.
Umenyiora still has a trade on his mind.
"Just because he's back on the football field," friend Justin Tuck said, "doesn't mean this whole saga I guess is over."
Umenyiora -- who has $7.1 million and two years left on his contract -- rejected the team's offer to add incentives to his $3.1 million salary for 2011 is because a player can renegotiate his contract only once a season.
Therefore, if he was traded following a renegotiation with New York, he wouldn't be able to get a new deal with his new team.
'People Are Always Calling' About Asante Samuel
The Eagles still have cornerback Asante Samuel on their roster, but that doesn't mean trade talks aren't ongoing.
