Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis will end his short holdout on Monday by reporting to camp with the team. "Basically they still are negotiating but I'm tired of not being with my team! And I need to be there..." Lewis told The Florida Times-Union via text message. The Jaguars franchised Lewis in February and the Pro Bowl tight end signed his franchise tender in March. The franchise tag would pay him $7.3 million for a one-year deal, but Lewis does not want to play for a one-year deal.

The Jets and the Raiders are the teams showing the most consistent interest in free-agent cornerback Antonio Cromartie, according to The NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.

The Jets will sign Plaxico Burress to a one-year contract, the team announced on Sunday. The deal is worth $3.017 million, fully guaranteed, according to sources. The Jets, who showed interest two years ago before Burress served a 20-month prison sentence on gun charges, stepped up their pursuit Friday, the same day Burress visited the Giants.

49ers general manager Trent Baalke says he expects holdout Frank Gore to play with the team this season, but is prepared to move forward without the Pro Bowl running back. Baalke said that he wasn't surprised by Gore's absence in training camp. "I think you always have to be prepared for everything that comes up. So are we prepared to (play without him)? Certainly," Baalke said. "There are other players that are going to have to step up. But at the same time, we fully expect Frank to be back." Gore, the heart of the 49ers offense, is in the final year of his deal.

The Jets will not bring back free-agent wide receiver Braylon Edwards, according to a source. New York would like to retain Edwards, but they don't have the salary cap space to do so. Edwards posted 88 receptions and 11 touchdowns in 18 games with the Jets over the past two seasons.

Giants running back Brandon Jacobs has restructured his contract, opening the door for fellow rusher Ahmad Bradshaw to return to the team. Jacobs was scheduled to make $4.65 million for the 2011 season.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wants free-agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress to consider signing with the team. Pittsburgh drafted Burress back in 2000. "I've been talking to him," said Roethlisberger, who was a rookie during Burress' final season with the Steelers in 2004. "Plax and I have been talking for the last couple of months. I talked to him the other day and said, 'Would you be interested?' I'm excited for him to come whenever he comes here."
