By Christopher Reina The number in parenthesis is the average point differential through the first two weeks of the season. 1. Pittsburgh Steelers (25) The Steelers have yet to been tested by quality opponents the way the Patriots and Colts have successfully waded through the Jets, Chargers, Saints and Titans, but they have been impressive. Willie Parker is averaging 117.5 yards per game, while their James Farrior led defense has held the Browns and Bills to just 10 total points. 2. New England Patriots (24) For the second straight week, the Patriots dominated a foe they defeated in the 2006 playoffs by a score of 38-14. Randy Moss has already matched his TD mark from last season and is almost halfway to reaching his yards total. Laurence Maroney hasn?t become the dominant workhorse many predicted he would become as he has shared duties with Sammy Morris, but the former Gopher is averaging 4.3 yards per carry, which is identical to his number last year. 3. Indianapolis Colts (16.5) The Colts squeaked out a road win in Tennessee on Sunday by a final score of 22-20. Bob Sanders had seven tackles and 2.5 sacks, while playing the role of Vince Young watchdog. 4. Houston Texans (15) With David Carr watching as the Panthers? backup, Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson and the Texans put up an impressive 34 points. If they can knock off the Colts next week (or at least give them a competitive game), they will arrive as a legitimate upstart, a la the 2006 New Orleans Saints. 5. Dallas Cowboys (13.5) The Cowboys offense is a juggernaut, scoring an NFL-high 82 points. Over half the league has scored 40 points or less during the first two weeks. 6. Green Bay Packers (12.5) Retooling the defense and not acquiring Randy Moss hasn?t hurt Brett Favre and the Packers against the Eagles or Giants, but DeShawn Wynn can?t be counted on to give them two touchdowns a week. 7. Detroit Lions (9) The Lions multi-pronged offensive attack will likely get Kevin Jones back this week against the Eagles. 8. Minnesota Vikings (9) With Chester Taylor inactive, Adrian Peterson had 20 rushes on Sunday and came back to earth (or a normal rookie season) considerably. Regardless of how excellent Peterson is, he will face a cheating defense whenever Tavaris Jackson throws four interceptions in a game. 9. Seattle Seahawks (5.5) The Seahawks have been as uninspiring as they were expected to be. 10. Washington Redskins (5.5) The Redskins defense has been good enough to bail out their offense during each of the first two weeks. 11. Denver Broncos (2) If Mike Shanahan wasn?t a supposed genius, Sebastian Janikowski would have missed the field goal during the timeout and made the second one. He has to be happy with the play of Travis Henry, but needs Jay Cutler to give them a steadier hand. 12. San Francisco 49ers (2) Like the Broncos, the 49ers have escaped with their lives during the first two weeks of the season. Alex Smith will eventually have to throw a touchdown pass if Mike Nolan?s team is serious about making the playoffs. 13. Jacksonville Jaguars (1.5) Predictably, Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew both saw more carries on Sunday and they narrowly defeated the Falcons. 14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1.5) The Buccaneers annihilated the Saints behind Joey Galloway?s 135 yards and two touchdown scores. 15. Cincinnati Bengals (.5) Carson Palmer doesn?t expect to throw a career-high six touchdown efforts in such a disappointing Sunday for the Bengals. 16. Tennessee Titans (.5) Is the AFC South the NFL?s most competitive division from top to bottom? It seems like it has always been the Colts and the other three, but the Titans look like they will be one of the NFL?s grittiest teams all season. 17. Carolina Panthers (.5) Steve Smith and Jake Delhomme exploded the Panthers out to a 14-0 lead, but the defense then yielded 34 unanswered points to the Texans. Julius Peppers needs to make more of an impact than the two tackles he posed on Sunday. 18. Baltimore Ravens (even) For the second straight week the Ravens scored 20 points. Their offense is unlikely to post more than that total in a given week, so defensive efforts like Sunday?s against the Jets will be mandatory. 19. Arizona Cardinals (even) There are still a lot of kinks in the Cardinals? offense, but Edgerrin James? 128 yards (5.3 avg) and one touchdown is very encouraging. 20. Chicago Bears (-.5) Cedric Benson bounced back with 101 yards rushing and Devin Hester scored his first touchdown of the season on a second quarter punt return, but Rex Grossman once again was disappointing. 21. Philadelphia Eagles (-5.5) Donovan McNabb is clearly not 100%, but their defense isn?t either, especially with Lito Sheppard out. 22. San Diego Chargers (-6.5) Philip Rivers and LaDainian Tomlinson have been about as disappointing as any doomsayer could have imagined. 23. St. Louis Rams (-7.5) Like Larry Johnson and Tomlinson, Steven Jackson is off to a horribly slow start. He has just 118 rushing yards in his first two games. 24. Oakland Raiders (-9) The Raiders nearly stole a victory in Denver on Sunday, despite just 73 yards and three interceptions from Josh McCown. They need to stop wasting the surprising efforts of LaMont Jordan and finally insert Daunte Culpepper into the starter chair. 25. Miami Dolphins (-10) Nobody was expecting the Dolphins to put up a ton of points, but the normally good defensive unit has been bad. One bright spot is the resurgence of Chris Chambers. 26. Cleveland Browns (-10.5) Nobody saw 216 yards from Jamal Lewis and five touchdown passes from Derek Anderson coming to the Dawg Pound. Have Cleveland?s young offensive weapons (Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow) finally arrived? 27. Buffalo Bills (-12) Lee Evans has caught just four balls for 22 yards this season. 28. Kansas City Chiefs (-13.5) Didn?t the Chiefs say they think they can win the Super Bowl in ?Hard Knocks?? 29. Atlanta Falcons (-13.5) While the Falcons record is where many expected it to be, more imagination from Bobby Petrino was expected offensively. 30. New York Jets (-13.5) The Jets now begin a softer seven game stint until their bye week after losing to New England and Baltimore in consecutive weeks. 31. New York Giants (-16) The Giants defense is officially the worst in the NFL at the moment, with 80 points allowed in two games. 32. New Orleans Saints (-24) Who has abducted Drew Brees?
