Calvin Johnson admitted he's evaluating his future and whether it might be time for a change of scenery.

Johnson has four seasons remaining on his seven-year contract. His base salary for next season is $15.95 million. Johnson's contract carries a cap hit of $24 million for the Detroit Lions next season.

"Like many players at this stage of their career, I am currently evaluating options for my future," the 30-year-old Johnson said in the statement. "I would expect to have a decision regarding this matter in the not-too-distant future."

Johnson said he's not sure what the future holds after the Lions' final game of the season.

"We obviously have profound respect for Calvin," the Lions said in a statement. "And certainly understand and appreciate his decision to give proper thought and consideration to his football future."

Johnson reportedly cleaned out his locker unlike other veteran players.

Johnson also told his mother he's not sure if he wants to keep playing.
