Falcons 'Uneasy' With Julio Jones-Terrell Owens Relationship

Jun 20, 2018 5:51 PM

Julio Jones skipped all offseason program work with the Atlanta Falcons and the team also isn't thrilled that he has been spending time with Terrell Owens.

Jones has been working out with Owens, who was famous for letting contracts get between him and a team.

"The fact that he's running around with Terrell Owens has the front office uneasy," longtime reporter D. Orlando Ledbetter told ESPN Radio in Charlotte.

According to Ledbetter, Jones wants "an adjustment" to his contract, and the relationship between Jones and the team is "in a bad place right now."

Matt Ryan Expects Julio Jones To Attend July Workouts

Jun 14, 2018 11:48 AM

Matt Ryan anticipates Julio Jones attending his typical July workouts before the start of training camp.

Jones has skipped the Atlanta Falcons' mandatory minicamp as he seeks a new contract.

"There's probably about 12 of us that are going to get together in the month of July, and he'll certainly be a part of that,'' Ryan said of Jones. "We'll have an extended period where we get some work together. You know, that's something that we've done in the past. The past couple of years, we were down in Miami.

"This year is a little bit later due to kind of my offseason, but we'll still have that chance to work together. And I think that will be really productive for us."

Jones is looking for a revised contract with three years and $35 million remaining. He faces a grand total of $84,425 in fines for missing the three-day minicamp.

Ryan and the Falcons agreed upon an extension in May.

Julio Jones will not attend the Atlanta Falcons' mandatory minicamp.

"We have been in contact with Julio and his representation," Thomas Dimitroff said. "We will not discuss those conversations publicly except to say we feel they have been productive and constructive. We understand the concerns and thoughts from their perspective. Although not ideal, Julio informed us today he would not be attending mini-camp.

"We have much respect for him and what he means to our team, our city and our fans."

Jones has three years and almost $35 million remaining on his contract.

Matt Ryan Was Unlucky On Interceptions Last Season

Jun 1, 2018 1:33 PM

Matt Ryan threw 12 interceptions last season, which isn't a high total, but the Atlanta Falcons quarterback actually had a fair amount of bad luck.

According to Football Outsiders, Ryan threw five interceptions that should have been completions to his own teammates. A high number of passes were thrown into the hands of Atlanta receivers, only to be tipped into the hands of a defensive player.

No quarterback has had that many tipped interceptions in a season since 2010.

In 2017, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger all threw more passes than Ryan and had zero passes tipped by their own receivers and intercepted.
