Cardinals linebacker Joey Porter has accused a California Highway Patrol officer of unlawfully striking him.
The incident took place on the night Porter was arrested on charges of drunken driving, battery on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
Porter's allegation is under investigation in the context of the whole incident, Sgt. Larry McGuire said Tuesday.

Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes will not be charged in connection with a March 7 altercation that left a woman with a cut above her right eye.
Orlando police Sgt. Barbara Jones said Tuesday that the case has been closed since Anshonae Mills declined to press charges.
Mills claims that Holmes threw a glass of liquor at her after the two argued over a seat in a VIP room.
According to the report, investigating officer Damon Barnes witnessed Mills "smiling" and "rubbing Holmes' face" after the two talked outside Rain nightclub.

A Florida woman is suing Holmes, saying he hit her in the face with a glass at an Orlando nightclub and then offered to pay her so she wouldn't press charges.
Holmes, who has not been charged in connection with the alleged incident, says he "didn't do anything" and expects the matter to be dealt with quickly.
Porter Suspected Of Drunken Driving
Authorities say Cardinals linebacker Joey Porter has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and accused of assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.
The California Highway Patrol said Porter was confronted by officers early Saturday in a fast-food parking lot.
The 11-year veteran recently signed signed a three-year, $17.5 million deal with the Cardinals.

The manager of the club where Ben Roethlisberger is accused of having sexually assaulted a 20-year-old Georgia woman says that one of the woman's friends told him a bodyguard of denied her entrance to the area where she believed the accuser and Roethlisberger were that night.
Rocky Duncan, the manager, said he escorted Roethlisberger and his group to the back room, sealed off by a curtain, that serves as the VIP area. Duncan said the bouncer, stationed outside the curtain, allowed women into the VIP area throughout the night.
Request For Roethlisberger's DNA Withdrawn
Georgia investigators have withdrawn their request for a DNA sample from Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who is accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old college student at a nightclub, an attorney for the player said Tuesday.
Ed Garland told The Associated Press that officials withdrew the request a week ago, but declined comment on why.
Goodell Will Meet With Roethlisberger
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says he plans to meet with Ben Roethlisberger about the Steelers QB's off-field problems.
Goodell already has spoken with team owners about Roethlisberger, who is being investigated on allegations he assaulted a 20-year-old college student in a Georgia nightclub on March 5. Roethlisberger's attorney says the quarterback committed no crime. Roethlisberger has yet to be interviewed by police and charges have not been filed.
"We take this issue very seriously," Goodell said Monday at the NFL meetings. "I am concerned that Ben continues to put himself in this position.
Dolphins' Brown Arrested For DUI
Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown was reportedly arrested Friday night near Atlanta on suspicion of driving under the influence and has been released from jail, according to the Miami Herald.
Per the report, Brown was arrested and charged after being pulled over for failing to signal while making a lane change.
According to the Herald, the Dolphins know about the incident.

Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie has reportedly paid more than $25,000 in overdue child support.
The San Diego Union-Tribune writes that Cromartie will avoid having to go to court to explain his financial situation.
The Jets paid the newcomer some of his contract money up front to help with his situation. They advanced him $500,000 of the $1.7 million he'll make in the 2010 season.
