Travis Kelce has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The deal will make Kelce the NFL's highest-paid tight end.

During his age 34 season last year, Kelce caught 121 balls for 984 yards and five touchdowns.

The Minnesota Vikings and Justin Jefferson continue to make progress toward a contract extension, according to general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.

The two sides took a break in negotiations over the weekend during the NFL Draft.

"We continue to have great dialogue with their representatives," Adofo-Mensah said. "The process is still ongoing. We did say, 'Hey, [let's pause] a couple days.' The draft's coming. They have players they represent. We have our process.

"Either way, whenever we sign him, we want Justin to have his whole week. You know that friend that has a birthday that takes the month? I think Justin would deserve his whole month if we signed a contract to celebrate it. We're excited to work towards it. We're going to keep going. You can't have all these plans when you talk about all these visions and not talk about the king linchpin, so we're going to keep working toward that end goal."

The Vikings and Jefferson have been discussing terms of the deal for more than a year.

Clark Hunt says the Kansas City Chiefs will look at options beyond renovating Arrowhead Stadium as the team searches for a home beyond the expiration of its lease following the 2030 season.

"We will approach it from a broader perspective going forward because time is short for us at this point and so we need to see what other options are out there for us," Hunt said. "When we started on this process three years ago, it felt like we had a very long time, a long runway with about 9 1/2 [years] left on our lease. We're now down to 6½ and so I do feel very much of a sense of urgency.

"Arrowhead is a special place for our family and our fan base. That was one of the reasons that we focused on it with the last effort, but going forward it may make more sense for us to be in a new stadium."

Voters in Jackson County, Missouri, rejected a sales tax measure earlier this month that would have helped fund major renovations to Arrowhead as well as build a new ballpark for MLB's Royals in downtown Kansas City.

Options for a stadium for the Chiefs elsewhere in the Kansas City area include building on the Kansas side of the state line.

The Philadelphia Eagles are signing offensive tackle Mekhi Becton to a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million.

Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland encouraged the signing of Becton, a former first-round pick of the New York Jets.

Becton, drafted 11th overall in 2020, had a promising rookie year before missing essentially two seasons due to injury and then enjoying a comeback campaign in 2023.

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was shot in Sanford, Florida, shortly after midnight Sunday morning.

Dell was a bystander during a shooting at a private event where authorities say a teenage gunman wounded 10 people after an altercation.

A Texans spokesperson said Dell isn't seriously injured and was released from the hospital and is traveling back to Houston.

In a statement, the team said Dell has a "minor wound."

Ezekiel Elliott has agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys, according to a report.

The running back will earn $2 million in guaranteed money as part of the agreement.

Elliott made $70 million during his seven previous season with the Cowboys.

Kirk Cousins' position as the Atlanta Falcons starting quarterback of the foreseeable future has not changed after the team's stunning first-round NFL draft decision, according to new coach Raheem Morris.

The Falcons selected quarterback Michael Penix Jr. of Washington with the No. 8 pick Thursday night. The choice sent shockwaves across the NFL since Atlanta had just signed Cousins as a free agent last month to a four-year contract worth up to $180 million, with $100 million of that guaranteed.

At the Falcons' post-draft media availability Saturday, Morris halted any quarterback controversy.

It turned out all of those conversations the Denver Broncos had in recent weeks with the New York Jets weren't just about quarterback Zach Wilson.

The Broncos stayed busy on Day 3 of the draft Saturday as they acquired defensive end John Franklin-Myers from the Jets for a 2026 sixth-round pick.

The Philadelphia Eagles tied an NFL record for most trades in a seven-round draft with eight. They join the 2023 Houston Texans and 2018 New England Patriots for most draft-day trades since 1990.

The wheeling and dealing by general manager Howie Roseman kicked into overdrive Saturday, as Philadelphia executed five different trades on Day 3.

Alabama safety Jaylen Key said it was "pretty nerve-wracking" waiting seven hours Saturday to hear his name called on Day 3 of the NFL draft. When he learned he had been picked by the New York Jets, he knew exactly what that meant.

He was Mr. Irrelevant.

"It means everything; that's part of the title," Key said on a video conference with New York-area reporters. "You just have to take it and lean into it. For me, I'm definitely going to lean into every bit of it. I'm Mr. Irrelevant this year, and we're going to make something shake, for sure."
